Pitchers with Stamina between 50-59
Pitchers with stamina in the range of 50-59, do you set their primary position as SP or RP? Just curious what the most common preference is21Starting Pitcher0%2Relief Pitcher0%16doesnt matter, either-or0%3OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

I leave them at whatever they are but use them as long relief.

Re: Pitchers with Stamina between 50-59
it will bump their overall upwards if you make a reliever (some, not all) into a starter, which in & of itself, means very little, or nothing. but it will also make their salary expectation higher if they are classified as a starter. I prefer having ''relievers under 50 & starters be over 50''. Its a silly idiosyncrasy I have but maybe I should mentally adjust my OCD to be ''relievers under 60 & starters over 60''OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: Pitchers with Stamina between 50-59
In my personal roster sets, I always have SPs with stamina 60+ and relievers 35-59 (multi inning/swing guys) and 34 or less for one-two inning guys. Just personal preference. Any time someone is switched between the two, I'll edit the stamina accordingly.Comment

When I convert starters into full-time relievers I have a rule for the attribute edits. I’ll edit the guys stamina down, but edit the other attributes up so that he ends up with the same OVR. IE if a guy is 71 overall with 68 stamina, I’ll lower his stamina to say 38, then boost his other attributes until he gets back to 71 overall. In my mind thats a realistic way of having a guy’s stuff “play up” in short stints out of the bullpen.Comment

It may be cheesy but I like finding the young relievers that have like 75 stamina and turning them into a starter. Super cheap. I can’t bring myself to do it but you can get josh James from the Astros for way less than what he’s actually worth. I guess just because he’s listed as a reliever

Re: Pitchers with Stamina between 50-59
If I plan on having them start, I'll bump their stamina up. If I plan on having them as a reliever, I'll leave it where it is or drop it slightly.
IMO the stamina attribute is very much a "sim" attribute. It's used to control the amount of innings a guy will throw throughout the season. If you're simming, you still end up seeing these guys throw 5+ innings during many games, but at the end up the year they're around 120-150ish IP (Which is realistic for a lot of these guys).
If you're playing every game though, it's not realistic for a guy to be gassed every game in the 3rd inning.
Maybe that's a cheese move, but it's worked for me!2025 Expos Expansion:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1295163793Comment

Re: Pitchers with Stamina between 50-59
Reliever definitely. At 50-59 you would be lucky to get 4 innings out of them. Won't even qualify for the winComment

I guess I don't know what I thought I knew. I really thought this would be split fairly even. Well, at least its apparently a no-brainer, I'm glad to learnOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: Pitchers with Stamina between 50-59
At somewhere around 20% to 25% stamina pitchers attributes decline. With an MLB average of around 15 pitches an inning a pitcher with stamina of 50-59 will be around a 4 inning pitcher. On a really good day maybe 5 innings.
Your bullpen will be overworked with a guy like that if you make him a starter.
If his h/9 bb/9 k/9 are good enough he is a middle or long reliever.≡Comment

Re: Pitchers with Stamina between 50-59
If you end up deciding to leave them as starters, you could always piggy-back starters like they do in the minors if you're not interested in changing their stamina?
Pitcher A throws 3-4 innings, then pitcher B goes 3-4 innings.
I guess it all depends on how competitive you're planning for your team to be. I wish that you could stretch guys out a bit more to build their stamina, but if I recall correctly, they don't progress their stamina numbers.2025 Expos Expansion:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1295163793Comment
