I don't throw that many Wild Pitches, but if I miss my spot, even by the smallest margin, with a slider inside, it's almost always a HBP.
Does anyone else throw an absurd number of wild pitches?

Re: Does anyone else throw an absurd number of wild pitches?
In my opinion this has become an issue the last few years that has not been discussed enough. Default legend is a crap shoot when throwing off speed even remotely near the lower half of the strike zone. I also experience quite a few drops from the catcher which are usually head scratchers. Fastballs in the zone that are dropped by the catcher and roll to back stop are comical.Comment

You seem like a vet, if you're not doing the following method, you should start. What I do mechanically is squeeze R2 and flip the right stick up to influence a flyball. This affords me a lot of get out of jail free flyballs.Comment

This has been a thing for at least three iterations of Show, IIRC. I seem to remember those of us being cranky in '16 for this same issue. It doesn't really matter who is catching be it Perez or Peter O'Brien, lots and LOTS of balls hit the dirt and go skittering away.Comment

It seems worse for me this year than in previous versions. Any ball that hits the dirt seems to skid to the dugout and a free base is given to the base runner.Comment

I do classic pitching on Legend and I have no idea how people do 5-5 for control and consistency. I’m literally at 7-6 for control/consistency and walked 5 batters in 5 innings yesterday with kluber. Strike% was 58%

Re: Does anyone else throw an absurd number of wild pitches?
I'm curious as to what pitching interface you're all using, because when I watch some of the Youtubers who use "Meter" they max out the meter on every pitch. That can NOT be how it is intended to be used, but yet it is and their control seems to suffer and yet they never make the connection. They just keep maxing everything out.. there's no thinking, just pitch after pitch as quickly as possible.
So, I'm wondering, before we go into slider-mania, has all the mechanics of the game been explored because I don't throw nearly as many WPs as some of you're are stating using a much more control oriented pitching approach with Meter.Comment

Re: Does anyone else throw an absurd number of wild pitches?
I played a game on Legend last night (first time ever) and walked four and had three WPs in 4 innings with my starter. Nope. Not gonna do it.

I don’t actually care about any of this.Comment

Re: Does anyone else throw an absurd number of wild pitches?
I'm positive I've hit more batters with an inside slider than all other pitches combined. Yet I will still throw one in. That's my plate, dammit to hellOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: Does anyone else throw an absurd number of wild pitches?
My catchers allow any 12-6 or change below the knees to go right through the 5 hole, especially if anybody is on base.
Its as if nobody ever taught them to turn their glove and drop to their knees.

Re: Does anyone else throw an absurd number of wild pitches?
After playing some franchise, I’ve realized that I throw so many wild pitches because the AI catchers are stuck in quick sand.
I’m not nearly throwing the same number when I’m user controlling the catcher versus RTTS where the catcher is AI controlled.Comment

Re: Does anyone else throw an absurd number of wild pitches?
This is Legend, meter pitching, and having the likes of Carson Kelly (77 blocking), Andrew Knitzner (68 blocking) and Francisco Pena (73 blocking) behind the plate.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
