Offline hitting still feels great to me. I think the changes were pretty subtle. Frame rate improvements definitely make hitting feel smoother in general tho.

Hopefully they didn’t decrease errors too much for offline play at least. I love how unpredictable that aspect of the game was on launch.

Count me in as seeing more errors than needed.

      Hitting I like.

In playing two full offline games and a few Conquest, I haven't seen one thing he's mentioned as a negative in his posts. Does that mean they don't exist? Of course not, it just means I had a good day of playing. But the best way to judge the patch overall is its effects with a decent sample size. One terrible day or one great day here and there aren't indicative of the overall gameplay.
There's a difference between being skeptical and being the guy who sees the notes and immediately starts trashing the patch and SDS without even playing the new update, then posting only "I'm done for the year" or "WTF is this game???" over half a dozen times within 12 hours of release.

I'm as cynical as anyone I know haha and have plenty of gripes (*cough pitcher/DH glitch cough*) but I have fun playing and try not to let a single negative thing or two influence my enjoyment of it.

This never and I mean never happened before the patch. Congratulations DD crowd you won again. Probably jacked up the best version of the last 4 years.
Why would it be the fault of the DD crowd? They don’t want those type of errors either ya know...

Great swing. You see guys hit shots like that frequently, sometimes with it even farther off the plate. Hell guys hit HRs on golf balls off the dirt, it'd be different if your PCI wasn't close.

A pitch down and in is the absolute sweet spot for a lefty. I’d expect nothing less from that swing.

I said the same thing yesterday. Contact feels much more natural now. Good fix.

This one's interesting. I didn't want to say it before because it would only start torches and pitchforks, but...I believe this was being caused by the same reason that regular player lock mode plays a difficulty level higher than what's stated - the difficulty shift thing which is present in RTTS. So, if that was indeed the reason and they fixed it in Moments....do the same rules apply to RTTS and offline player-lock now? Once again, it would be surprising to me if changing this only affected one mode....
Update on this: It actually does seem to behave different in Moments player lock. And I am very surprised at that.

Note: Ignore RTTS for this explanation. Things are a bit more confusing there and I'm trying to keep this as simple as possible.

The most obvious way to see this happen in years past was to put the difficulty on Veteran with API set to default, which means in normal games it will show the catcher's glove indicator and highlighted pitch suggestion when difficulty is set to Veteran or below. So, when the game is playing on All-Star or above, those visual aids will be hidden. The quirk about this is that while in player-lock mode you could set the difficulty to Veteran, but the API suggestions do not show up. Even after this patch, it still does that for offline player-lock games. And that's the exact same behavior the Moments exhibited as well - until this patch.

If you're doing a Veteran player-locked pitcher Moment (the April 23 Topps Now one with Wheeler is a good example) and have API set to default, the glove and suggestions will show up. If you go to an All-Star level one (the Strasburg May 2 one is one of these), the suggestions aren't shown. Those are both signs that the game is playing true to the actual, stated level on the Moments now.

So offline is now different from the Moments in this regard. Probably for the better since it's now the "true" difficulty level that's stated.

Played for the first time in a month or so and didn't noticed any of the slowdown or hiccups that were there before.

I don't see anything wrong with it personally. It's a pitch down and in and Gwynn got to it, like most lefties do. One thing to keep in mind is the PCI only represents the "sweet spot" for optimal contact and isn't indicative of the entire bat itself. He got ok wood on the ball, pulled it and got it out of the park.

Had he smashed that pitch into the second deck then that would seem extreme.

bcruise are you noticing more swings and misses on pitches where the PCI is nowhere near the ball? Also are you seeing zeroes in the screen that rates how hittable a pitch is/was? (Sorry can't think of the screen name off the top of my head)

I wanted to play last night but was too tired when I got home

It's "Label PCI Contact" if it's the same thing I'm thinking of. And I haven't really been watching for that yet, just still in the process of seeing how things actually play out in the field.

But to answer the other question, yes, I'm still seeing light contact (mostly fouls) on balls that are clearly outside the PCI but with good or just early/late swing timings, according to the post-play swing analysis. Both me and the CPU. Is it happening less? Probably, if the patch notes are any indication. But it hasn't made a big enough difference in the gameplay for me to notice yet.

                            Again, very small sample size.

Thanks for the feedback bcruise. You and I were seemingly on the same page with the "excessive contact issue" so I'm curious as to hear your feedback on the timing changes.
