Not much to comment on yet. Only got to play one Ranked Seasons game, a Conquest game and a few innings of offline play now vs. CPU.

In the RS game I hit a sig Kershaw sinker with sig Gwynn that was inside and out of the zone, down the MMP right field line for a homerun. So squaring the ball up with good timing can still send it flying, even outside the strike zone.

Will be playing a lot more tonight and tomorrow. I can post the vid of that HR when I get back from work, too - I'm curious whether people think I should have been rewarded on that swing.

Props to SDS for the Marlins Park fixes. I put those up a few weeks ago in the stadium accuracy thread. Few things still missing, but most of the important stuff made it in which is great.

What did they fix? I haven't been able to play in a few days so I'm curious.

Edit: Just read the patch notes so I guess those are the things they fixed.

Defense has gotten a little tweak too. I can actually dive with an infielder. It was almost impossible before.
Hitting feels great, more bloops and wounded ducks (in a positive way)

Jeeze what did they do to this game??? Just had a game where I kid you not, the CPU commited 7 catching errors!!!! 7 CATCHING errors!!!! I checked the CPU players and no one was out of position and no one was rated below a 58 in fielding. Went back to default sliders figuring I would work my way back to a good slider set. This never and I mean never happened before the patch. Congratulations DD crowd you won again. Probably jacked up the best version of the last 4 years.

The absolute LAST thing the DD crowd would want is more random errors (or more random anything).

I'd be concerned if something like that happened over multiple games. CPU made no errors in the handful of games and innings I've played against it so far.

Play multiple games and see if patterns develop. Stop jumping to conclusions every time a new experience happens.

May I asked was this a Play full game or quick manage?

Because I played a spring training game"play full game" with the Braves there was not many position player changes.

On the other, when I did two quick manage games there multiple position player changes after their 2nd at bat.

I second this, before the patch quick managed games worked fine but actually playing them no one subbed.

My honest opinion..... this new hitting meta is neither fun nor rewarding. Probably the reason I will be done for the year. Just don't have the energy to spend another 30 plus games outside of franchise building a slider set to fix this mess

That's your prerogative - obviously you're free to play or not play any game you want if you're not having fun with it - but it sounds like you already had your mind made up on the results before you'd even played with the patch so I hope this isn't just a case of finding problems because you wanted to.

I'm holding off and downloading the latest patch. The constant need to patch the game to cater to the whims of the DD crowd has ruined the game for me the last couple of years. I've got it where I want it now, I'll wait and see what the consensus is from the hard core guys first.

Here's that HR. Swing analysis window on Giambi's AB shows the PCI placement and location of the pitch. Fair outcome, given who the players were (that Gwynn has 69 PvL btw) and the ball's location?

You really think that's what I am doing? Okay. First of all I am not trying to bait anyone into a "response" as you call it. But I am very concerned with what this patch did to this game. To me right now this game is a far cry from the masterpiece it was at release. Wait a couple of day until you have all had a chance to experience what a **** show this patch has made this game. The CPU cannot field. That's a fact. I am constantly watching them "jog" to routine fly balls and extend there hands only for the ball to sail over their gloves for a double, triple, whatever. Secondly, every squared up hit right now is either a no doubt homerun, or a weak fly out, or a bloop hit. In 7 games since the patch I have maybe had 3 line drives go for base hits (when they are not right at a defender). What happened to "contact hitters matter"?

If you really think the reason I am posting on this forum to elicit a response than I don't know what to tell you. Gameplay which was extremely decent before this patch feels absolutely terrible. If you disagree, fine that is your prerogative.

I for one absolutely love the new hitting. Something about the contact feels more real, feels like the ball is behaving as it should off the bat

Nah, he's not wrong to be skeptical in general due to patches for past games having unintended or unavoidable side effects for non-online play. I think specific to today's update he may be letting that skepticism influence his opinion on the patch.

In playing two full offline games and a few Conquest, I haven't seen one thing he's mentioned as a negative in his posts. Does that mean they don't exist? Of course not, it just means I had a good day of playing. But the best way to judge the patch overall is its effects with a decent sample size. One terrible day or one great day here and there aren't indicative of the overall gameplay.
