I like to believe that when I wait for him to get set that it gives me better control. I don't like throwing until the umpire is done moving around (behind the pitcher cam). I keep switching between meter and classic, but I pause with both.

bcruise covered it. I'd also mention that maximum effort can also lead to more injuries. Same goes for max effort when fielding. I also notice more wildly thrown balls when using max effort as pitcher or while fielding.

Personally, I only use max effort (while pitching on classic) about 30-40% of the time and it's usually on 2-2 or 3-2 counts. If I'm trying to carefully place my pitches against a scary hitter I almost never use it, especially if my intent is to walk him anyway.

I don’t notice a difference with being set, but when I throw my secondary pitch (circle button), I press the circle button to throw it.

Every other pitch I use the “x” button throw.

Ive convinced myself this makes a difference

I come set and wait for a second or two because it helps with frame rate. Seems like everything calms down a little after you come set.....that or :OISEGFHP:OIG Rogers Centre and the stupid vertical banners scrolling while I am trying to pitch......

I'm sure it's in my mind, but I do think coming set helps a bit with control. I mix it up a bit to try to mess with the batter's timing.

If you ever play with balks on, coming set is basically mandatory.

I thought about turning balks on. Does the CPU ever balk anyone though? I wouldn't want it to be 100% one sided.

Ouf. I cringe every time they start to move. If it's pre-pitch, I'll just step off, but when it happens when you start to throw, it's friggin' dangerous.

The CPU does not balk. It's user only.
