    Missing Players is a joke...

As I have played over 500 games (conquest, ranked seasons- Diamond Dynasty, as well as March to October) I've noticed that there are guys missing that should certainly be in the game. I'm not going to get into the Pete Rose thing...

BUT, no Strawberry, no Doc Gooden, I've seen a Jay Buhner card but no idea how to earn it, no Cecil or Prince Fielder, no Jose Gonzalez... I guess it makes some sense to not have the steroid guys in there like McGuire, Bonds, Sosa, and Palmiero... But there's a ton of players missing.

Even going back to the negro league like Satchel Page, and Josh Gibson.

I know at some point there needs to be a cut off, you can't have everyone there... Think it's cool Larry Doby is in there, even if some of the kids playing might not know he was the first black player in the American League.

But there's just a lot of guys missing. If you're going to have Rob Nen, and Dibble, why no Doc Gooden? He had one of the best seasons in a generation when he went 24-4 , 1.5 ERA, 16 CG, 280 IP, with only 69 BB... How does THAT GUY not make it in!???! And I'm not even a Mets fan!

They could have included Paul O'Neil and Bernie Williams, and Derek Jeter... I was glad to see they had added Gator in the game... But no Thurman Munson? Really?

And those are just the (now) 2 NY teams. I'm sure if I looked at each team, there'd be a giant omission from each team. Like Albert Bell from the Indians. Sandy Koufax for the Dodgers for Pete's sake!!!

I love they include old players, but they should and will in the future, hopefully, know that those guys need to be represented. Eric Davis was a hell of a ball player, and so was Dave Parker.... But can you really be honest and say that Carney Lansford didn't at least get some consideration? That he didn't earn it? Or Dave Stewart?

I could go on an and on about guys not in the game (in diamond dynasty mode)... Even though there's a ton of players. There should have been more represented. I love the game, and play DD almost exclusively. So when I see certain players get in, and others not, I find it bothersome. I mean, no Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra or Joe D???!!!! As a Yankee fan, I'd rather see them than 2 Jorge Posada cards. Hell even Chris Chambliss and Mickey Rivers should be in there before Robbie Cano...

My little rant here is just if you really bwantes the sport represented well, and imbue the history of the game, as well as the present, they could have done a better job with putting guys into the game. They add these insanely overrated "Future Stars" but are missing a hell of a lot of HoF players. And that's not to say I don't like the future stars, but be a bit more realistic. Nick Senzel has a higher rating than Aaron Judge, Moolie Betts, and a bunch of other of the games Superstar players now!

Had to get that off my chest....

You get that they need the players to agree to be in the game, right? It's not up to them if players don't want to be in, or want significant money to be in.

They can't just put whoever they want in.

The beautiful thing with this game is any player can be created, and there are some who post on the forums on this site who have artistic gifts and good baseball knowledge when it comes to ratings and attributes.

Ever heard of licensing? SDS has to get the rights to use these players in the game. If they can't get the rights then they can't put them in the game. They would be facing a major lawsuit.

Imagine how much surprise mechanics EA could include for these missing players.

Combining "EA" with "Missing players" is kind of funny.

The last roster update from NHL 19 was still missing a handful of players that had played this past season. I understand it from their perspective, they need to sign off their likeness being used when they hit the league, but to say EA would be doing a better job (I'm assuming that's what you were getting at...if not, my apologies) is a tad over the top. I'm assuming the same rules apply to MLB.

As far as I know there is no union for retired players where you sign a contract with the union and get access to all the players. In this case they're having to do each individual player and that's much harder.

Re: Missing Players is a joke...

It can't ALL be about licensing... They have PeeWee Reese... But when playing in moments, it's "2nd baseman" "OF"... It's nuts.

They've got the HoF license, mlbpa and MLB ones too. They can have Gary Carter, but no Strawberry or Gooden? It's not like I'm looking for the Yankees to have Tommy Fresh, but players that were vital or significant to the clubs history and winning should definitely be there.

I'm using those 2 Mets (I'm a Yankee fan) as a reference to guys that should be in the game. It's ridiculous. I love the game... I'm not looking EA to get back into baseball... But if you're going to have flashback cards, legend cards, hardware cards... There should be guys in there. I haven't seen, so I can't say for sure, but no Larry Walker, or Randy Johnson? Especially the latter, who played significant roles in World Series... It just kind of sucks. They flood the game with these signature series cards, I just don't see how so many elite players get left out.

As far as I know, once you're in the players union, unless you directly opt out (like Jordan did with the NBAPA) you're able to be included. Your likeness and stats...

But it is all about licensing. And the Hall of Fame isn't a license. It's permission granted by the Hall of Fame and Museum to use their trademark where applicable.

And the MLBPA is only for active players who are currently on a contract with one of the 30 teams. It doesn't extend to retired players or players who opt to play in an independent league or overseas. That is why you have the missing players thread in the rosters section each year the game launches.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

You must not understand licensing and player rights very well. They've actually added quite a few new legends this year. Otherwise there's many historic rosters you can play with.
