Please, listen and learn instead of continuing to complain without knowledge.

Like everyone has stated it is 100% about licensing and legal rights to use a person’s likeness in a product. Retired players are not in the MLBPA, they are not in any union and must be dealt with individually. That means Sony has to go and negotiate a deal with every single person you’ve mentioned. And the ones that are in the game for “legends” and historic players have worked out that deal already. Players that are deceased are trickier because they have to negotiate with their estate or family.

So everyone is not lying to you. The company would put all of those famous retired and deceased players in the game if they could. It’s a cost and availability situation.

Now try and save some face and don’t be so stubborn. Learn something new and accept reality.

From what I understood about the players association, once you're out of baseball the players are still tied to the union. My misunderstanding of that one rule and what my gripe is are separate.

I was simply stating that a player the caliber of a young Doc Gooden, or Strawberry as a Met were major oversights. I was curious (until they added him) why Keith Hernandez wasn't in the game. When it comes to Yankee players there's too many to have... But it surprises me that there's no Mantle, or a few others but they have the chairman of the board in the game. Granted, he was a great pitcher, but the first few names that come to mind when I think Yankee legends isn't Whitey Ford...

It just seems as though some players that are in, like Seaver for the Mets, are there rightfully so. But just between those 2 teams (I have more knowledge about them than others because I grew up watching them, and have been a Yankee fan since I was born) it appears that they left out some really important guys. Hell, even David Cone... Whether he is on the Royals, Mets, Jays or Yankees... It just seems to me like there are definitely players past that should be included in what is "The best baseball game made" and especially when you consider how much goes into DD.

Wasn't meant to ruffle anyone's feathers.... Just thought key guys to teams history are missing. Like the Bucs not having Clemente on the flashback items.

Say you are SDS and you want to add my likeness to the game. I say, "Sure, but since you're making money off of my likeness, I want my 'cut' of the profits". So, I say, "You can add my likeness to the game, but you have to pay me $100,000." Or, maybe I say, "No, I'm not interested....".

Now, if you decide to add my likeness without my permission, I can sue you in court for monetary damages (plus legal fees) and that can cost significantly more.

So, if you wanted to add every "key player" out there and wanted to use their likeness in the game, you'd (likely) have to pay millions of dollars in licensing costs. Guess what, your game has now made a loss in sales and the company is now filing bankruptcy, etc.

As fans, we all totally understand what you're saying - but the reality is that it just isn't practicable....they have to pick and choose a handful of guys. If all of your favorite guys aren't in there....well, neither are ours

You “ruffled feathers” because you were misinformed as to how the entire process worked, and then when told you doubled-down and still placed blame in the wrong direction.

It’s one thing to hope for other players to be included, but understand how it all works and why some of the biggest names may never be included.

Personally, I’m quite glad the likes of a Clemente aren’t included. I wouldn’t wish for his family to sell his name all for a company to make money off of his likeness for him to only be used for the cash grab that is Diamond Dynasty.

There are dedicated roster makers that make entire team’s rosters, with more accuracy than the company’s developers, but I don’t even use those because there are not enough classic stadiums, uniforms, and rules options to recreate historic situations or leagues.

Has it ever occurred to you that maybe they tried to get the license to use the players you're complaining about not being in the game but for whatever reason they couldn't? Has that thought even popped into your head?

You've been a Yankee fan since you were born and you DON'T think Whitey Ford is one of the top Yankee Legends? Granted, you did say wasn't one of the first names that comes to mind so you have to wade through alot of names when including the field players, but on the pitching side?
