Do you use the Pitcher/Batter analysis?

The CPU is very adapt to picking up patterns pitched to each particular hitter and overall. I know its cumbersome to access (hopefully in '20 its brought back to the forefront), but this tool is such an asset to have at your disposal.

It doesn't guarantee that you'll never blow a game or prevent the CPU from scoring, but it will aid you in pitching in patterns that the CPU will eventually recognize/pick up on.

      Re: CPU late inning rallies/HRs

Last night I played a game against the Pirates. Held them to 3 runs innings 1-8.

In the 9th I was up 8-3. It was 8-8 when it ended.

Bryan Reynolds hit a 3-run homer on a pitch up AND out of the zone. Cole Tucker roped a fastball low and in off Dellin Betances for a 2-run homer. Everything found a hole. Not to mention the baserunner that got aboard after my catcher took forever to throw a routine runner out.

Do I think they intentionally change CPU AI? Not sure. But it's hard to believe the constant ebbs and flows of The Show, ESPECIALLY in the 9th inning, is a coincidence.

And had it been the other way around you would be celebrating your amazing comeback

Yeah, I was about to post my last 20 games with 9th inning results, but it’s really beating a dead horse. Not worth it.

You’ve never came back and won from several runs down?

5 in the 9th? Maybe once. Maybe. But I can say the CPU turns a different, weird gear in the 9th and I agree with the OP.

                  Cool beans

So when you came back in the 9th did you think, “man the cpu was just letting me do whatever I wanted and there was no way they could’ve stopped me from winning no matter what they did? The game determined I was going to win.”

Or did you think “damn that was an amazing comeback. I was focused and locked in on everything no matter what. I just got hot at the right time I guess and the cpu just lost it.”

I think I actually thought “well that will never happen again.” And I was right.

                      That’s sad.

Well maybe you’ll get to experience it again. You did it once, have faith and confidence in yourself that you can, and will, do it again.

I locked in my settings from where they had me on dynamic. I’ll have to play several games to make a fair judgment.

CPU didn’t have a late comeback but there was still a HR in the 8th right on que. Doesn’t mean it’s the same but just a note.

SDS clearly hates the Phillies and didn't tie them into the code.

One thing I notice is that if you make a simple mistake, like a misplayed ball, the CPU sure as heck will make you pay for it more often than not..
