I’m interested in what all these Bryce haters think about Mr. Soto’s antics

he'll wear out his welcome in the Caulfield household pretty quick if he continually whips Atlanta pitching. Right now he has 9 homers and a .303 average against the Braves in 32 games but the Washington record against Atlanta in the last couple years is 17-21. FWIW Harper has hit 32 homers and a .275 average against Atlanta in 131 games. Soto can be a childish bambino so long as he doesn't do it against Atlanta lol plus Harper's off-the-field personality grates on me. Time will tell with Soto. It doesn't hurt Soto that I cant understand what Soto says, while Bryce, I hear loud and clear

Bonus Bonus question, if you've won a WS with Harper on your Show franchise, was he a key player, or dispensable?

Bonus bonus bonus question: If Christian Yelich stays healthy, do the Nationals even make it out of the WC with or without Bryce, and does this post even get created? [emoji848]

I dont know how long a deal with Baez on the cover had been in the works but a healthy Yelich in the WS could have put him on the 20 cover. Maybe.

So maybe its Milwaukee thats cursed lol

I think it’s the height of irony, leaving a team to win a World Series only for your old team to win it. He’s getting trolled badly on Twitter, had he shown some humility and tweeted congrats to the Nationals it would have been old news but he can’t bring himself to. He’s probably the kind of douche who will tell reporters not to ask him about it when Spring Training rolls around.

I don't know if its a new curse or not, but I heard the Cubs have been actively shopping Javier Baez after he was announced as the cover athlete for MLB '20

Reporter: "Bryce, can you win a championship in Philly?"
Harper: "that's a clown question, bruh."

Yeah well he actually did wish all of his former teammates well and was happy for all of his friends over there. He didn't need to use Twitter. The words actually came out of his mouth in an interview here a few weeks ago so....

Re: Bryce Harper starting a new video game curse?

This is one of the more intriguing player team changes in sports, imo, with Harper going from the Nationals to the Phillies and how the two teams fared the first season after the change:

Phillies 2018 went 80-82 without Harper. In 2019 with Harper they improve to 81-81.

Nationals 2018 went 82-80 with Harper. In 2019 without Harper they go 93-69 and win the World Series.

I've been thinking about any other sport where one year removed from a marquee player switching teams that such a drastic difference in first year results post move.

I know there are many more factors involved than just Harper, but I personally find it very intriguing.

Not quite in the same year but this comes pretty close.
Wayne Gretzky traded to La from Edmonton just prior to 1988-89 season.
1989-90 season Edmonton win Stanley cup and on route thrash LA 4-0 in the 2nd round for good measure.
                      Wayne never wins another cup....

Aaron Judge might be the one cursed in this regard, he hit almost as many homers in '17 (pre-Show cover=52 HR's) as he did in '18 & '19 combined (post-Show cover=54 HR's). and in 2020, according to Baseball Reference, they're projecting ''only'' 30 homeruns. of course, BR's projection formula isn't exactly elaborate. I'll be interested in seeing what Bill James 2020 Handbook projects him to. If Judge does indeed end up with less than 30 in '20, especially if its due to injury again, I'll go with: Judge-Cursed.
