Would actually love if they gave us more control with that aspect of ratings. Sometimes it’s damn near impossible to get sim stats like strikeout % for hitters and batters even close. Like Simmons strikeout % of 4 or whatever last year ( and that twins C I’m blanking on RN) or strikeout pitchers to have a proper k/9 like Hader and some others. There’s other examples but it does seem and easy fix would just to give us more control w ratings caps.

I remember this too and while sports games in general have improved vastly from that time, the devotion to the fans of these sports by publishers has waned.I remember when ratings were bars, the "ratings" would sometimes be over 100. Think DD is the only spot this happens now...

Re: Any new ratings?
To be honest I truly believe that is why I hear the online community complaining so much about sports games in general. All of the "advantages" that are purposely built into those modes do severely create imbalanced gameplay. I don't really want plus 99 ratings for any category, I truly just want more ratings. To think that such a strategic game like baseball can be quantified by like 10-12 skill based ratings and a few quirks is downright irresponsible by the dev team. If these are going to be the only ratings (and have been for...well ever), then they should introduce a very extensive tendency system a la NBA 2K. Things that can be truly quantifiable and trackable.
With the current system it's truly hard to truly replicate players true play style. Like aggressive hitters who just swing at anything but don't strikeout a lot (See Vlad Guerrero Sr.), truly patient hitters who walk a ton but don't strikeout a lot (See Barry Bonds), patient hitters who don't walk a lot and don't strikeout a lot (See Tony Gwynn), and aggressive hitters who walk a lot and strikeout a lot (See Mike Trout). These are four players who were all outfielder and vastly different hitters.
Tendencies would help players differentiate better and you'd feel it much more when you play against them. I'd much prefer this for players and a managerial strategy system. Managers just don't matter in this and most sports games. There should be a screen that allows you set a style of play for the team (or maybe I should just realize that this game is not meant to make sense on the franchise side, that the license is simply for classic players and the few truly good current players to use in DD and that I should just give up on this game and stick to Out of the Park...the baseball game for baseball fans). Excuse my rant, I apologize.I play both DD and Franchise modes offline (and a HUGE amount of time to both)....let me tell you something, those 99+ ratings cause a LOT of game imbalance issues. Online guys are constantly complaining about the gameplay and honestly, I think a lot of that is a byproduct of those inflated ratings. Playing offline in franchise is a far more balanced and realistic game - and actually, some of the best animations/variety occur at LOWER ratings (like minor league games are a real treat to play).
Just...be careful what you wish for....that's all I'm sayingComment

Meh. I’ve watched fireballers get rocked more times than I can count. They need to have their secondary stuff working before they can just blow it by a guy, same as anyone else. But I definitely hear you on bat/hand speed.Last edited by Detroit Tigers; 02-29-2020, 05:43 AM.Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.Comment

Re: Any new ratings?
Good thread. To me, a glaring problem with the system are ratings that cover multiple attributes/outcomes in the game.
The first is the durability rating, which affects both injury frequency and energy depletion. The second is the fielding rating, which governs not only fielding error tendencies, but speed, athleticism, and other attributes as well.
A rating should govern one and only one thing. Otherwise you run into problems when trying to properly reproduce players. I agree...more ratings and tendencies would be helpful.Comment
