Re: How do you guys play your franchise?

I used to be a strict Season Mode guy of 82 games, when they took it off I skipped The Show 18 altogether, got hyped with the Harper signing and bought The Show 19 and forced myself to play franchise. I played a whole season every pitch with the Phillies and eventually lost in the WS vs the Astros LOL!

Now I'm in Sept of another season this time with the Padres, again playing every pitch!

Re: How do you guys play your franchise?

I've always tried to play all 162 + playoffs. I've done it 3 or 4 times, but the earliest I've ever finished is late November, and that was one time. More often I'll finish in January or later and I'll typically go through the offseason and then I'll start the next season but don't care about playing every game. I know it's a big part of "Franchise" but I'll never really play multiple years with my main franchise. I don't think I've ever finished Year 2. Sometimes, in the offseason, I'll do a just for fun franchise where it's almost all sim so I can really focus on playing GM and more of a long term thing. Even with that I think the farthest I've made it is maybe 5 years. It just gets boring once all the CAPs start to take over the league with their funky names and mustaches.

This year, however, as life gets busier, I've resigned to the fact that I probably can't and won't play all 162. I just hate being so far behind every year, because I can't maintain a game a day schedule past like the first month or two. This year, I'm going to focus on staying close to the real date and schedule. So I'll play a lot, but I'll quick manage a few games when I'm falling behind. Quick manage rather than straight sim because I still want control of daily lineups and in-game decisions like pinch hitters and relievers.

Re: How do you guys play your franchise?

My plan going in is really going to depend on how well the rebrand/relocation works.

-If it's good, I'll likely do a Tampa relocation, and play every inning of every game (Quick counts on).
-I'll probably also have a separate Jays franchise on the go at the same time, and use the "Play 1, sim 5" method.

If relocation sucks, I'll just run one franchise, and play the 162.

I could never start a franchise and just do 1 season. That's not a franchise.

I typically get 8-10 seasons in every version of the show. Would love to get even further if possible.

I usually play 1 game a series. If it's a tight playoff race in September I'll play nearly every game.
          Playoffs every game.

I average anywhere from 40-50 regular season games a year. That's me being a factor in 25% of games. I quick manage the rest.

With this strategy I get many seasons in and can see my team grow.

I have been playing some and simming some... Usually play game in every series against a division team, some inter league game and whatever other teams interest me.

I have played every game in a season once or twice before. I wanna try to do that again this year, including spring training, at least in the first season in my new franchise this year. But yea I can see myself get drained doing that and start simming but I am gonna try.

Re: How do you guys play your franchise?

Due to time constraints and not having nearly as much time to play in 19, I used a heavy amount of Quick Counts and Quick Manage. I ended up settling on a Mariners franchise as the one I rolled with in the long term, got into July of year 2. After finishing barely over .500 in year one, last I played Franchise a few weeks ago, my Mariners were in 1st place by a couple games over the Cheaters... I mean Astros.

I do not know if I will use quick counts as much this year. Life has settled down some and I am hoping to have more time to play full games. Thinking of a full NL team rebuild this year, possibly Pirates, Rockies or Padres. I really like seeing how prospects develop, even though the progression in The Show needs work still (and has needed work for many years).

Re: How do you guys play your franchise?

I have a 2017 Yankees franchise going into year 4 that I play every single pitch every inning. I get in one season per cycle with that one.

I have a few other carry over franchises:

2016 Fantasy Draft Cardinals going into Year 4

1987 Yankees almost finished with year 1

I will start a Bacons fictional franchise on 20 since we can use MLB 19 rosters now to start a new franchise on 20 (awesome new feature so thank you SDS!!).

I am a franchise junkie. The Show will basically be the only sports game I will play this year other than some Madden 20 on the weekends.

I also employ 30 team control to make sure no wonky stuff happens, but I also love to do storyline trades for various teams depending on where they are in the standings and what their minor league system looks like etc. I also control every teams lineups to make sure they are optimized.

Now I only do this for my 2017 Yankees franchise.

In my 1987 franchise I do have 30 team control....but let things play out as they will. My 2016 Fantasy Cards is a single team control franchise that has played out amazingly well.

With Bacon’s fictional roster.....same thing, I will employ 30 team control but let the chips fall where they may.

I try to play every game, every pitch but I usually end up restarting after 40 some odd games. 2018 was the only year I powered through playing a complete season with the Padres.

This year I’ll try and play every game with my Jays.

I'd love to be able to play every pitch/game--but I simply don't have time, and also get burned out.

I plan to play each of my #1 starter's game, and then will sim (quick manage) the rest, playing each of the other starters as you mentioned above. So I'm essentially doing the same thing--just, will play all of my ace's (G.Cole) starts.

Yeah, it's a LONG climb, but I adore seeing the little storylines pop up as the season progresses. I love the game-to-game nuance, seeing a lesser player go on a "mini streak", to face a poor club that is just playing well at that time. Because I split my MLB time with other modes, I tend to get through a season per cycle...but I'm gunning for 2 seasons this year (we'll see).

As for my franchise setup, I use SDS stock rosters (though that may change this year - I'm skeptical about the full minors roster interfacing well with the mode, the custom ones always have always caused issues in the past - so I may wind up carrying over my MLB 19 franchise I started with "fake" minor leaguers in an SDS roster).

I'm a single-team control guy as well and I've found that with a good, well-balanced roster (which SDS' usually are), the AI does a really nice job overall. I DO, however, save after advancing each day - in case the CPU makes a seriously bad deal that makes no sense. If that happens, I back out of the mode, reload the file, and re-advance to the next day. I think I had to do that only one time the previous season I played.

I'm also a slider minimalist. As good as this series has been, this is the one sports game that I always feel needs a couple of very minor tweaks - but that's it.

I'm definitely not one for "house rules". But, I DO tend to do one thing whenever I play sports games. When executing a trade with the CPU, I always ask myself, "does it make sense for THEM?". I look at the actual ratings and depth charts vs focusing on "who" the player is. I don't look at it like I am trading for Wander Franco, I look at it like I am trading for a prospect with a certain ratings setup and potential. By basing my evaluations on the ratings, I find myself being FAR more objective.
Whoa now, I still play out every one of my games in OOTP xD. But i agree, I play every single game no matter the game/sport. The thought of Yelich hitting 3 HRs in a game and me not knowing because I didnt play the game ruins any chance of me ever simulating. And with carry-over saves, IDC about how long it takes.

I usually try to play as many game as I can. I play the 1st Spring training game, sim, then play the last Spring Training game.

Then when I play the regular season, if I win a game, then I stop there, but I I lose I play one more. I just pace myself and have fun.

I usually play a couple of games a month. I do a lot of player locked games as well. It gets me through the season pretty fast. Probably about as long as it would take to get through a Madden Franchise season.

Playing 162 games doesn't interest me a whole lot because I really enjoy the aspect of developing and building a team up over a few seasons. Getting new talent in the draft/offseason really keeps things fresh for me.

What I’ve done the past few years is 30 Team Control to keep lineups/rotations/callups and trades same as real life.

Play all 162 with the Mets. Also play some Player Locks with stars if I’m crunched for time. Also like picking a random pitcher and try to throw a No-no on a wimb. Hasn’t happened yet but it will!

Playoffs I play every game. But will alternate which team I control throughout the series to keep it interesting.

This year I only made it through 1 season but I put a lot of time into DD and am not planning on doing that this year so I should have a couple of years strong to at least see how my draft prospects turn out.

I usually play around 10 spring training games and then during the regular season I play 1 an sim 5 but during those 5 games I keep critical situations on and sometimes jump in depending on the situation.
