They announced that Spring Training is over and will not resume. However, if the players are off for an extended period between now and whenever its deemed safe for people to gather in large groups again, I would have to think that the teams would need to gather again for a few weeks so that guys - especially pitchers - get back into gear to play.

Regardless how long it lasts this sucks. Hopefully they come up with a vaccine soon.

I will be under control soon-ish. The sports leagues, state governments, and health organizations are making the right call with all of this. All of this will slow down the spread.

The Cleveland Clinic just came up with a way to get test results for the virus in 8 hours instead of the 1-8 days. This will be shared all over the country. Diagnosing people sooner and getting then into quarantine and treating them will slow the progression down. A vaccine will be coming soon as well.

It might take a couple months but it will minimize. It's already starting to be much better in China.

Baseball be suspended hurts. But hey, at least we got The Show.

I think the test time portion is inaccurate. When the Jazz were quarantined last night they took tests and said it'd take like 3/4 hours to get results.

It doesn't take a medical expert to read the news and look at the legit numbers and see how the postponements or suspensions will help.

With the preventative measures being taken, it stands to reason the number of cases will drop. Eliminating large gatherings of people will most definitely reduce the number of new cases.

A vaccine will eventually be ready. Testing for the virus is becoming much quicker, so they can be quarantined faster. All of this will lead to the virus eventually becoming less of a big deal.

100% true. And Italy is test case. They didnt take it serious and now there medical system is taxed so much that they are refusing people over 65 for care and people cant go to the doctor for regular things, such as you hurt your ankle really bad. Even if this is just the flu, our medical system is not built to be able to care for an additional 50k ppl within a month timeframe.

Interesting. When I read the article about the Cleveland Clinic getting the time down to 8 hours, it said normally it would take 1-8 days.

Maybe there is another way to test for it with one specific individual.

I called into ESPN Radio today. I got the operator and gave him my name, location, and question. He put me through and on the other end of the phone was the show. I waited about 20 minutes and then the call dropped lol. This was the question I was going to ask regarding the virus:

Say this lasts 3 months. That would be around 60-ish regular season games. Now, I’d be surprised if it lasted that long but, let’s get real - no one really knows how long this is going to last. This is spreading rapidly. Anyways, say we get a 100 game regular season. Do you think they’d still have a post season?

The virus won't last very long. We'll see baseball this year.

I don't remember all the sports suspending things for swine flu, SARS, and MERS which were far worse though. Oh well.

While those diseases are deadlier than Coronavirus, way more people have been exposed to Coronavirus making it much worse.

The NBA, NHL, and now MLB are making the right call suspending operations.

Well it looks like the league found a way to punish the Astros after all.

Feel like the Astros are getting off easy now. By the time the game comes back most people will have probably moved on from the cheating scandal.

Hey, I hope you're right. You certainly make sense. Especially since the pony I have in this race is that I'm over 60. Yikes!
