Did your 2024 season start in The Show 18 or prior? If so that might be the reason it’s saying you must advance at least a full season in The Show 19. Just a thought.

Yes, legacy data formatting being what it is...you are required to play (or sim) at least one season in the previous game iteration in order to get your save files into a state so that the year to year import can work properly. Trying to support data fix ups for every past iteration of the game would be Sisyphean task. This caveat has been true since the inception of the feature.
Hopefully, OP can acquire a temp copy of '19 and quickly sim to the end of his current season."Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"Comment

Re: "The save file was not advanced at least one calendar year in the previous year's
There’s more to it than that, there is also a lot happening in the game behind the scenes (eg new data and features) that the devs need to take into account when converting a save file from one game to the next. Batter vs Pitcher career stats, for example, aren’t present in older save files from 15, possibly 16 and beyond.
It would be poor use of resources if they spent weeks planning, developing and testing code to convert save files from each of the previous versions of the game beyond the last version, not to mention the bugs that would be guaranteed to show up post-launch that would require attention. Multiplied by two for Franchise and RTTS.
Honestly we are lucky we get carryover saves at all, considering the above. How many other annual games have the feature?
Call me a fanboy if you like, but this is my guess as to why it is limited to previous version only, and how they can justify needing us to buy the game each year if we want to carry over a save.

Re: "The save file was not advanced at least one calendar year in the previous year's
Because you have already advanced at least one season. If you were in 2018 on the 19 version you would not be able to carry over the file to 20.
At least once season has to be completed.
So for example let’s say you started a season on 17 but were in August when MLB 18 dropped.
You can transfer it to 18 but to be able to get to transfer it to 19 you need to at least finish year one 2017 and be in year 2018 on 18 to get it to the 19 version.
Get it?
It allows same year transfer to the next version but that is the limit. You mist advance at least one year after playing it on two versions of the game.

Re: "The save file was not advanced at least one calendar year in the previous year's
I started a franchise in 2019 just before 2020 was released using Bacons fictional roster. Odd thing is I'm only half way through the 2019 season and it transferred over to mlb 2020 even though I haven't completed even one season. Not sure why it worked but it did.

Re: "The save file was not advanced at least one calendar year in the previous year's
Not sure if this is the same thing or not but everytime I try to advance to the next day in my franchise my game freezes. I've tried re-importing my franchise multiple times with no luck. I'm able to play my first game but that's it.
I think I only played a month and a half on 19 so I didnt know if that was the reason or not. I don't get an error message when I carry over my franchise or anything it just freezes.
Any advise. I'm in year 9 in my franchise from 2014. Thanks in advance.

I was replying to the guy who had seemed to skip a year of the game by staying on 18 instead of porting to 19 last year. Perhaps I misunderstood what he was saying but that's how I interpreted it.
I understand why they do it. The OP said that it was a dumb thing to require a year... and it is but that's how they get you for an annual purchase. Had someone skipped a year of the game, go to EB, get it for $6 PP and spin through a year that way.Comment

Re: "The save file was not advanced at least one calendar year in the previous year's
I gues there is a bug, tested everything out by doing a different save but when as a pitcher you won the CY Young Ward then at every home game you receive the award on the field before every prepitch home game. I dont know if its suppose to be like this but i think its a bug right ?Comment

Re: "The save file was not advanced at least one calendar year in the previous year's
Maybe I'm confused lol but I'm in like June of my first season on mlb 19 just after the draft actually so would that save successfully convert to Mlb 20 and 21 thereafter?Because you have already advanced at least one season. If you were in 2018 on the 19 version you would not be able to carry over the file to 20.

It would load in 20, but you’d have to finish a season for 21."Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"Comment
