Re: MLB The Show 20: Fictional Franchise Progress Thread
That's crazy. 99% of my home runs just barely clear the fence. I think my longest one this year is only like 417."Listen son, you only have enough runs when you’re showering after a win."Comment

Re: MLB The Show 20: Fictional Franchise Progress Thread
Guys, this is so much fun. First time playing with a fictional roster ever in a sports game.
Anyway, I wanna go far in my franchise, so I'm playing 1 out of 10 games. (approx. 6-10 hours/season, more if I reach the playoffs).
Took the Giants and did a fantasy draft. Rex West, Dylan Clark & Nate Painter made this season very enjoyable, but we ultimately finished 63-99, horrible. Cleaned house at the trade deadline & traded Melankon, Perkins, Spencer Miller & others to get some good prospects.
During the offseason, we wanted to upgrade our rotation, so we managed to sign Justin Dougherty (that guy is thin lol), Javier Rivas, so rotation is :
Dougherty 90
Rivas 87
Martinez 83
Journell 82
McClain 82
We also managed to sign the one and only BOBBY LOCKETT, so the lineup looked like this :
1. Joseph SS, 83
2. Bush CF, 81
3. West 1B, 99
4. Clark LF, 93
5. Painter RF, 90
6. Lockett 2B, 88
7. Pain 3B, 81
8. Humphries C, 68
BUT, the Giants were not done. We wanted to upgrade the C position, so we traded Bush + A prospect for Mack Shade (his look is cool !).
We also did a blockbuster to get HACK STEPHENSON, we had to give our best prospect, Felix Fernandez + Alexander Reese + Another blue chip prospect (#13 in the league). So going into this season, our lineup looks like :
1. Joseph SS, 83
2. Lockett 2B, 88
3. West 1B, 99
4. Clark LF, 93
5. Painter RF, 90
6. Stephenson CF, 87
7. Pain 3B, 81
8. Shade C, 82
Pretty happy with the team right now. I'm having a blast, and I'm looking forward to blash shots in the bay this season !Comment

Re: MLB The Show 20: Fictional Franchise Progress Thread
Welcome aboard friend!
I am him and as the one who did it, I know exactly what I did.
Stats and service time were achieved by simulating time in franchise mode and having players play. Then, you export them out of franchise and they'll have career stats. This is only possible pre-MLB19 and has been glitched since to count forward instead of backwards.
I'm happy to answer any further questions regarding this.

Based on your answer I think I already know the answer to my follow up question, but I'll ask anyway...
I am guessing since you got all these stats directly out of the PlayStation console game, you don't have these player stats in an excel format similar to your companion spreadsheet with player data right?
I ask because I am a bit of a stat nut and I like spreadsheet tracking my video game player stats and I thought it would be cool to build out past League Leader stats tables using those stats attached to each player in your roster file.
Thanks again for answering!Comment

Re: MLB The Show 20: Fictional Franchise Progress Thread
Played 2021 opening day with my Aliens roster. Team was carried by Tim Redd with 6+ innings of 9k pitching and 3 RBIs by DJ Triplett including a 2 run HR. Ended up winning 4-1. Loving this team and if my stars can avoid the injury bug, I think we have a shot at the WS.

Does anyone play with budgets off and a salary cap using 30 team control?

Re: MLB The Show 20: Fictional Franchise Progress Thread
ESPN.COM - June 11th | It's the end of the road at PETCO PARK for starting pitcher Shane Lindemann. Thursday afternoon the Padres dealt Lindemann (0-7, 6.24 ERA) along with left fielder Jesse Danks (.175 BA, 3 HR, 12 RBI) to the New York Mets for left fielder Carter Dawkins (.262 BA, 14 SB, 20 RBI).
In the 29 year old Dawkins the Padres get a speedy backup outfielder who is also able to fill in at spots in the infield. Dawkins is set to be a free agent but told reporters he would love to make his stay in San Diego a long term move. The trade of Lindemann is unsurprising as he has been struggling the entire season and failed to respond to the new interim pitching coach like the rest of the staff did. Danks inclusion in the deal was largely a salary dump as the 32 year old has a year remaining on his contract and was set to make $7 mil an inflated price for a player of his skill level.
With a spot open in the rotation the Padres called up a familiar face in Joel O'Malley (MiLB: 2-3, 32 SO, 1.93 ERA) who has been performing admirably with the minor league team. The hope is his new found confidence, a new pitching coach and the veteran presence of Woody Rockwell will see the 26 year old right the ship and become a reliable piece of the rotation.
The Padres currently are 35-35 (3rd NL West) and are 2.0 GB in the wild card race."Listen son, you only have enough runs when you’re showering after a win."Comment

To answer your question, I do not. I'm a big stats nerd myself but I didn't think it was necessary to do that for every player because I'm guessing most people aren't too interested in it. It's also something I'm hoping I can edit/clean up once the game comes to PC.
We will see.

Re: MLB The Show 20: Fictional Franchise Progress Thread
Just finished off my first month playing every game in franchise. My overall record is 20-10 - good for second in the NL West.
A couple of guys I need to talk about include Reid Fortenberry and Kobe Yamamoto.
Fortenberry is a perennial all star catcher. He's one of the better offensive threats behind the dish and even though he hits left handed, he still hits well against southpaws. He won player of the month with an unreal batting line (.512/.571/.976 with 9 HRs and 22 RBI).
Yamamoto is a budget beast for me. I think he's 64 overall entering franchise and doesn't have much potential but does everything well enough. He's taken over the centerfield job for my Blackjacks and ended the month hitting a walk-off, 3 run home run as his first MLB homer.

Re: MLB The Show 20: Fictional Franchise Progress Thread
I've reached the all Star break.
Dylan Clark beat Colby Relaford in the finals of the home run Derby, which was neat because they are both teammates on the Toronto Huskies.
Also funny ... Even though that's my division rival, I was rooting for Relaford... My perception of him is a respectful hardworking professional and someone I'd like to have on my squad someday (and he also hasn't done much damage against my team in head to head games). Whereas I have a perception of Clark as a cocky jerk and ever since he pimped a homer off us and bat flipped, I've held a grudge, ha.
It's funny to see how I developed such strong feelings for some of these guys after only half a season.
Speaking of homers ... My ace Vince Cartwright gave up FIVE in his last start before the all Star break, for 8 runs allowed. I couldn't seem to throw anything near the plate without it getting smoked. Hope he can turn it back on in the second half of the season.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 20: Fictional Franchise Progress Thread
Just passed the all star break in season 2, sitting half a game behind the Braves in the NL East.
I've made a couple of trades to boost my offense, getting OF Angel Hernandez to play RF agaisnt RHPs, and just picked up Quinn Scott from Boston for 2 of my top 5 prospects and a current MLB (Raul Soto). Quinn willl DH full time and will fit in well in the middle of my lineup as JC Ray, Isaac White, and Jorge Veras try to bust out of their season long slumps

There are players on my team that can do no wrong. Meanwhile there are others I just look at like "get it together or your on the next train out of here come the off-season."
The work Bacon has put in helps with this, after a enough games the combination of the face, equipment and name and instantly a story forms.Last edited by jrnlgrn; 04-17-2020, 02:45 PM."Listen son, you only have enough runs when you’re showering after a win."Comment

Re: MLB The Show 20: Fictional Franchise Progress Thread
In my last update, my fictional Braves had just acquired Paul Keys from the Indians and he went-off in his first game.
The next game...disaster struck as speedy CF JC Ray was lost for 1-2 months. Suddenly, what looked like the best OF in the league is looking rather thin. Keys will shift back to his natural CF spot, leaving nominal 4th OF Jorge Aguilera as the starter in LF following the trade of Gavyn Cook in the Keys deal. AAA CF Andres Tolero, called up following the Ray injury, got hurt in his first game in Atlanta and is out ~2 weeks and he's being replaced by another AAA OF who himself just came off the IL.
Our pitching has been weak too after trading away Miggy...and following a 3 game sweep of the lowly D-backs, we got swept by our arch-nemesis Mets. We decided to re-shuffle the rotation a bit and gave newly-christened ace Carson Dent a breather. He'll start game 1 of our next series vs the scuffling Reds.
The storylines are coming in at a fast and furious pace right now. We're facing a ton of adversity (injuries, poor pitching, a lot of hitters struggling) but we're just a couple of games under .500 right now. But, it's a marathon and we're just nearing the end of April. Lots can (and will) happen as the season unfolds.
I challenge ANYONE to find a better role-playing game than this one right here!!Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment
