Re: What do people want in frachise
Everything that’s been listed prior to is obviously on my list also but the big things I would like is an archival system, records and minor league stats.
Baseball is as much about its history as it is about its present day. Having players chase records is one big thing I would like. Top 50 players in each category in MLB and each individual teams records top 10. Heck I’ll take no previous records but the ability to build our own within our universe as we establish our own records.
Archival System so you can look back at previous seasons. Who finished where, top prospects, etc.
Have the players in the minor leagues accumulate stats on their baseball card. It led much more immersion to see a player rise through the low minors to upper levels over multiple seasons. This was inHigh Heat Baseball in the early 2000. Cant believe it’s almost 20 years later and still not in the Show.Comment

Re: What do people want in frachise
Aside from improving the core logic and mechanics, I would like more engaging systems for scouting and training. If you aren't going to make a pure management sim on top of everything else, give me some video game-*** video game systems for scouting and training. Something more interesting than checking a box and backing out of a screen. That's fine for a pure point and click desktop game, but I have this controller in my hand and wouldn't mind the option to take BP, for example. Madden and FIFA give me that option, and everyone insists they're awful! They even give me little player portraits when I'm scouting draft pics and youth academy players. Any level of interactivity would go a long way.Comment

Re: What do people want in frachise
Oh I forgot about secondary position logic. They need to either get rid of the debuff when playing a player in a secondary position for single player franchise, or they need to completely revamp the system. There are plenty of players who can play multiple positions equally well, and the real life league is a prime example of this. Also we need an in game way to add positions to a players repertoire that isn't editing them, or at the very least, let us edit in individual positions without limits.
This replaces my #3. Geez there are so many things (this thread has touched on a few of them). Franchise really needs a year of hardcore attention.Comment

There really needs to the a UT (utility) option for players like Brock Holt and Charlie Culberson and many others who are equally skilled at playing both infield and outfield. I hate having to pick one or the other if it's not automatically factored in for a player like Johan Camargo who has played quite a few OF innings but doesn't have OF listed as one of his secondary positions.Atlanta Braves

Re: What do people want in frachise
I want a franchise mode with a real owner mode aspect to it like the old Madden 2005. But I also want a lot of the aspects of the NHL franchise mode. You can trade draft picks 7 years into the future. The scouting system is massive, you can hire like 20 scouts and scout tons of players.Playstation Network:That70s_Gamer

Re: What do people want in frachise
Draft classes need a huge overall. For starters the team with the last pick in the draft shouldn't be picking literally the only person left in the draft pool. Make ages and overall/potential lineup better. Maybe someone at SDS could familiarize themselves with how the MLB draft works like eligibility, bonus pools, etc. and then try and apply some of that knowledge to what we get in the game. And for the love of god enough with the stereotypes when assigning names, skin color, facial hair, etc. I don't need to get into specifics on that one but everyone who's played this game knows what I'm talking about.
As someone mentioned earlier, the trade system also needs to get with times. 2 team, 3 player system that I've been using in sports games for the last 15 years is kinda outdated. And considering how big a role the IFA system plays in building a team's system, that'd be a nice add too.
And records. Maybe give us something that's more than just an afterthought?Comment

Re: What do people want in frachise
At the top, I want the ability to play the game in Team President Mode. (Think Theo Epstein with the Cubs). Where I'm totally in control of everything with my franchise, but still have the challenge of answering to the owner hanging over my head.
I want to hire a GM, and have that be incredibly meaningful and impactful. The quality of the GM should effect my ability to hire front office assistants, managers and coaches. It should have a large effect on how accurate the ratings of the players and prospects are, how willing other teams are to make deals with me, and how eager players and agents are to sign contracts.
Under the GM, I want to at least be able to hire an assistant GM in charge of MLB scouting, and one in charge of amateur scouting. These should also have a big effect on how accurate my reports are, and how quickly they come in, and the people in the same positions for the other 29 teams should have an equal effect on how those franchises do business.
Along with the abilities and effects that the manager and coaches already have, I want them to have a more increased role in MLB player development. Each player should have a ceiling of course, but he should be less likely to achieve that in a poor enviornment, and quick to reach it in a great one.
I want the manager and coaches to also have an effect on player morale. Build it onto the existing system, but have factors where a manager or coach can lose his status and actually create a negative clubhouse, making players angry in both the short and long term. A very bad manager/clubhouse should make players less likely to sign with the team as free agents, and more likely to want to leave. Players who get upset enough should demand trades.
I want more individual money making features back for the franchise. I want to sign TV contracts, advertising, concessions, tickets, ect. Big market, good teams should have tangible ways to make a lot more money than small market teams. And poorly run teams should fall off and suck because of it. Teams should get into a budget crunch and have to sell off players. Those factors should lead to more back and forth with the fictional GMs of the other 29 clubs.
I should be able to automate scouting to find certain types of players, and for the players to then be fully scouted once they're found. While the gamer should be able to micro manage the process if he or she wants to, we shouldn't have to. The current automated system is just awful, and it shouldn't be. There should also of course be many, many more young players available. It should be flooded with 18 year olds.
I should also be able to allocate more of my budget to minor league player development if I want to, leading to better results and faster progression.
I want more notes when a player passes a milestone in franchise history, both single season and career. If a guy has the 10th most homers for the Phillies, or the 5th most strikeouts for the Braves, that should be something that the game mentions.
I want statistical notes as each game begins, as it shows the players prior to first pitch. Show me guys who are on the leader boards, or who's hot.
I want more minor injuries at the MLB level. Guys should have muscle pulls or bumps and bruises that put them out of action around the league every day. We don't see that on the reports, if its happening. Most injuries that occur should be of that kind. Bumping up the injury slider shouldn't result in tons of torn ACLs and broken femurs, like it does now.Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.Comment

Re: What Do People Want Out Of Frachise Mode?
I would like a Driveline-esque training program you can send pitchers to in the offseason that could play out like:
10% chance of +5 to x attribute(s)
20% chance of +3
40% chance of +1
20% chance of no gain
10% chance of -2
or something to that effect. A way to unlock more potential for prospects but risky enough to not be foolproof.
With hitters, you could have tailored training like working on launch angle or heavy weight room work that could possibly have positive or negative effects to a broad range of attributes. Again, positive growth with thoughtful tradeoff.Comment
