I've had games where I've hit bombs left and right and the CPU hit just as many. When guys like Tommy Edman and Harrison Bader go back to back twice somethings up. I've also had games where it was 8-6, 11-4, 5-2 and every once in a while I'd get a 14-7, 13-12 etc. For some reason to me the Padres score a lot of runs as do the Yankees where as clubs like Pittsburgh and Detroit are lucky just to get 1-2 runs on 4 hits while giving up 6 or 7 homers by the 4th inning.

You guys are making me wonder if I got the same game that you did!
But in seriousness, I wonder if he HRs are increased on the higher difficulty settings? I never play on those levels, and usually freeze the dynamic difficulty on Veteran+ for hitting and All Star for pitching.Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.Comment

Re: What happened?! WAYYY to many HRs.
I would like for once to just put the game in, pick a difficulty and the only slider that needs changed is injuries, trades, and pitch speed. The outcome being a simulation style baseball game. If you are good/bad your games show. I feel they waste alot of time on attributes and stuff if this is the outcome we get.Comment

The patch came out the following week, post patch, my 1st game I alone hit 6 HR’s, CPU hit 1, final score was 17-3 😲. Next game I hit 7 more and at one point hit back to back to back to back, final score was 15-6. I played 1 more game after that, hit 6 dingers but not quit a blow out. At that point I knew something wasn’t right so I decided to tune it down. Since then, the CPU and I have been averaging 1.6 HR’s per game between the both of us in 6 games.
I’ve never played this game before and seen such a drastic spike in anything in any direction to notice or care. This one was crazy, i couldn’t believe what I was seeing. For me, besides the crazy spike in HR’s per game, the biggest red flag was all the pitches the CPU was hanging over the plate. Several times I had to recheck my settings to make sure I hadn’t accidentally changed my hitting difficulty back to Veteran from HOF...the CPU was missing his spot way too often, so often it was like I just started sitting on pitches over the heart of the plate on any every count.
Since I made those slider adjustments I listed in my previous post, I’m enjoying the game again once more. 😎Comment

Re: What happened?! WAYYY to many HRs.
I preordered and started playing on the 13th, played the 1st 7 games of Spring Training on Franchise and averaged 3.42 HR’s per game between the CPU and I. These are still high HR totals for where I like the game to play at but this was all before I usually make my slider timing adjustments. I like to play everything on default 1st for a bit just to get a feel of the game.

When the last patch came out fixing the options, I started my franchise over, but have had the same issues with an almost total absense of power on my side.Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.Comment

Re: What happened?! WAYYY to many HRs.
I had to restart a game because everything was home runs, 300 foul balls, late swings and it was disastrous. I restarted and the game played better as there were more groundouts, still quite a bit of foul balls but not as bad as the first game. Final score was 10-4 and there were 6 Home Runs total as compared to 6 Home Runs in the the first inning of the first game.Proud season ticket holder for the Oklahoma City ThunderComment

Re: What happened?! WAYYY to many HRs.
Through my first 5 games of the season, I've hit 13 home runs with the Braves on default legend/zone. I'm also leading the league in BB's. I think some of the issue is the CPU is throwing a ton of meatball pitches, and the ball seems to be carrying a little too well.
I think I'm going to halt my franchise for a bit until the next patch as I really don't want to start the process of messing with sliders this early.Comment

Re: What happened?! WAYYY to many HRs.
Well. I setup Dynamic Difficulty Starting at All Star with Sliders at Default and Classic Pitching, Zone hitting.
8 games in it was the HR fest the game had been since the patch. Lowest total was 6 HR's in a game with the score being 15 -11 and 18 hits a piece.
So my ranking in Pitching dropped to Veteran + and my hitting went to All Star +.
The next 5 games have all been back to normal. Or what I considered my normal day one play results before the patches. Going to lock in and just play for a while. Just wanted to post this in case somebody else needed to read this as its actual help or advice. Instead of just folks posting they have the problem and others posting they don't have the problem and every one should just calm down.In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Re: What happened?! WAYYY to many HRs.
I decided to see what I could do to fix things on my end. I switched from dynamic difficulty to veteran, and then moved the player hitting sliders for power, timing and solid contact way over to the right until there are only two clicks before its full.
I finally hit two more home runs! Now I have three in about 15 games played. Still a LOT of weak, weak contact. Like my guys are hitting balls that are weighted down or heavier. Kris Bryant in particular seems to be stripped of all power. Nothing he hits goes very much further than the infield.Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.Comment

Re: What happened?! WAYYY to many HRs.
I noticed a major spike in homeruns as soon as the 1st update came out. Not sure if it was a coincidence or not but definitely noticed a spike. I play on HOF directional hitting with Legend pitching. I’ve been playing The Show since 08, very rarely do I make sliders changes. The only two I really touch are timing and pitch speeds but this time I had to make an exception as my homeruns totals per game were through the roof. Though the sample isn’t big enough, through 6 games I’ve definitely seen a big decline in homeruns per game after making several changes to my sliders. Thought I’d share these with you in case you were interested. Here are the slider changes I’ve made to counter the homeruns:
CPU Pitcher Consistency - 7
Human Timing - 4
Human Pitcher Consistency 6
CPU Timing - 4
Fastball Speed - 6
Offspeed - 6
They seem to have fixed 2 key issues.
1.With CPU consistency raised it has dramatically cut down on their meatballs, they definitely paint the corners more.
2. With timing lowered perfect/perfect is greatly reduced leading to far less HR's...Comment

Re: What happened?! WAYYY to many HRs.
I played Yankees-Dodgers at the Polo Grounds and it was a home run derby plus triples/doubles all over the place. Grant it playing at the Polo Grounds is never a good idea as runs and Inside the Park Home Runs are common. I did some tweaking and on the next game Cubs beat Cleveland 5-3. Three home runs were hit, still quite a bit of foul balls hit, 7-8 groundouts, but it felt more like a real MLB game.Proud season ticket holder for the Oklahoma City ThunderComment

Re: What happened?! WAYYY to many HRs.
Ok folks for what its worth and if anybody cares, I have some results from testing things that I thought I would share.
I have been playing for 4 days straight, from morning to night, so I have gotten a lot of games in. I have come to a couple of conclusions based on my play. These are just my opinions from my gameplay and I am not saying they are fact but just my experience.
First I have found reasons for the disparity in the power surge among players. I have found that the issue is not as apparent or even an issue in carry over saves, again not all just not the ones I have. I have also found that starting a new franchise after the last patch has completely removed the issue and the game for me, is playing much the same as it did day one.
I have tried testing all of this with 3 different rosters Bacons, Default and the last Sony updated roster. The results have all been the same. Franchises started before the patch have the power issue. Franchises after the patch are playing well. So I am pushing on with my restarted franchises.
If this helps you great. If not then I am sorry was just trying to help with some things I had found in my time with the game.

Just want to give a shout out to the above tweaks. Working like a charm currently.
