Re: Bassrunning interface Removed on patch

I usually don’t get too worked up over bugs/issues. I am in SW Development (wrote code for a while and am now in project management) so I understand the development process and complexities and SDS has usually been pretty good with fixing issues. Combine that with the added complication of working from home and the general temperature of the country right now, I’m even more likely to forgive bugs. I can take the blue ring around the fielders, the stats OSD issues, the crowd noise dropouts, etc.

That being said, I’m an auto field, manual throw, auto baserunner and this has made it extremely difficult for me to play. I made it through 3 innings and had to quit. I’m too far down this path to try and learn how to manually field. I bought the early release edition and have played for hours everyday since launch day and think it is one of the best playing editions of the game.

Like I said, I’m usually pretty forgiving with things especially with COVID-19. I hope they can quickly fix this issue* and this one only and then hold off on any additional updates until their situation can stabilize and then get back to sending out updates.

    * If this is not an issue but a design decision, I’m totally against it...

With auto on you Can still control base runners hitting L1 to tag or R1 you can steal you control it and overwrite the cpus choice if they do something dumb

Yes it does. I always auto base run but override the cpu and push my guy home when it’s a close decision

Seriously though, until it gets fixed is it really unplayable? I agree, prefer it on. But lets face it this comes down to situational baseball. Do we really need a indicator in the upper part of the screen to let us know a guy is on third base, and if there is a fly ball to left, where I need to throw the ball if he tags up? Or if a guy is on second base and there is single to right, and if I know I cant gun him done, I need to hit the cut off man to prevent the batter from taking second base?

Again I prefer it on, but the majority of throwing decisions are made by the situation prior to the pitch. So, I just can't understand why this feature temporarily missing makes the game unplayable...

Yeah it's definitely not unplayable. I understand being upset, but like you said, you should know where to throw the ball based on the situation before the pitch is made.

Oh, wow. Just when I was getting into the game these past few days playing MTO because the gameplay and sounds is so much better this year. Man I hope(SDS) understand that a lot of us use those nice options. I am a Auto fielding, Auto Runner andt manual throw guy myself because I am an old gamer at 59 years old and my reflexes are not what they used to be.....Oh well..I'm sure they will look into it.

We know where to go.....but there are times....and these are more often now that they fixed CPU base running aggression....when guys are stretching singles to doubles.....you don’t know now....you cannot see that. And if you assume it every time a ball is a maybe to stretch you can make an errant throw.....

Again there is no reason this should have been removed. Zero reason.

They most definitely are looking into it....because it was implemented completely wrong. Tied it to the wrong toggle.

It is being looked at. Trust me.

It still shouldn’t be removed fir auto base running either people like me use that and overwrite the cpu with sending runners home or tagging now o can’t see at all where there at. Their trying to force me to use assist base running which I suck at

I'm in the same boat, I've always hated the running interface and LOVED it when they let you use AUTO but still override the CPU decisions. They definitely did this on purpose, it's in the patch notes. No idea why they would make this change and I hope they go back, otherwise I think I'm just going to jump back into COD Warzone. There is already an option to show baserunner windows, that should turn them 100% on or 100% off and the game should respect that setting. This is terrible, if I hit a ball into the corner, I want to know if the guy on first is trying to score or if I need to send/stop him... BLAM this crap

Where else would you be throwing the ball but to 2B if it's a single? I agree it shouldn't have been completely removed, but I was responding to the idea that saying the game is unplayable is an overreaction. It's not unplayable at all unless you don't know where the ball is supposed to go in particular situations.

Ball hit into the gap but cut off, you should be getting it in to second base quickly. You don't need to see the baserunner to know that.

I know this is unlikely but since this seems to have been done intentionally and not by accident according to some, is it possible that they chose to do this becuase they were noticing that with the new throw home cutoff system has become easier to throw out runners at home and get perfect throws (possibly during online games) so they chose to pick something to do to " curb" the throw out at home rates..and removing this was a attempt to make this harder to acheive becuase u cant see where anyone is...instead of digging into the new "throw system/feature whatever they want to label it as, to just tweak that instead..maybe the online players (even offline)have been complaining and sending feedback that we didnt realize?
