My drafted catcher Devon Snow has 3 quirks.Originally posted by JayDWhat bums me out is that players cannot acquire quirks. All your drafted players and young prospects will never have a quirk. Some younger prospects have quirks initially but will never gain any.

Re: Quirks
Yes drafted and created players will sometimes get quirks. That starting pitcher I mentioned was a player created by the draft system. I'm in 2021 of my 2014 carry over.

Re: Quirks
back when this was posted I didn't really understand just what was meant but now I notice Rays reliever Jose Alvarado has this new quirk (introduced this year?) ''Outlier 1'' - primary pitch speed exceeds limit, or somesuch. is there another new quirk, I'm guessing Outlier 2, for batters? also, back to Alvarado, his 2-seam speed says 97 but does this quirk let him throw it faster? I guess 97 mph is the top speed for 2-seamers in the Show? maybe I already saw about the new quirks back in February or March but have since then forgotten all about them.Originally posted by TheWarmWind...I just wish you could edit perks, especially now with the previous pitch speed barrier breakable via perks.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Yeah top speed is 97 for 2 seam but Alvarado will throw it about 101 top speed I’m guessing.
I have Emmanuel Clase and he has outlier 1 quirk for his cutter. It tops out at about 102mph.

Re: Quirks
I've known the Quirks were there, but I've never paid much attention to them, and didn't think they actually affected attributes. I thought they just highlighted things the player was good at. I guess I should start paying attention!
How long have they been "in the game"?
EDIT: Thinking more about this....do you actually see attributes increase in value when the quirk is applicable. For example, do you see a Homebody's attribute values go higher when he's playing at home?Last edited by buziii; 06-03-2020, 11:56 AM.Comment

Re: Quirks
Quirks
A hitter with homebody will typically have better home vs away splits.
It is a passive perk.
Day player you will notice better games in the day but if they are facing a pitcher with the day player it cancels it out for both.
But if that pitcher has homebody in addition to day he will have a slight buff.
But if the hitter has road perk then all is equal.
They are simply “buffs” and when you look at them you can see if a pitcher/hitter have ones that cancel each other.
It is a cool feature that I know was not full explained when it launched (MLB 16 or 17 I believe I forget).
But quirks do work and make the pitcher batter showdown even more interesting and you need to look at them before the AB to make sure you know what edge or disadvantage you have in the AB for either side you are on (pitcher or hitter).
