It's just more fun to bat as a Lefty
Especially with a closed off batting stance like Rizzo. Why would you ever want to bat righty again? Nothing better than pulling one between 1st and 2nd.PSN: Dalton1985

Definitely agree. Nothing sweeter than dropping your PCI on a low off speed pitching and crushing it to right field
Idk if it’s because of the far greater number of right handed pitchers in the league or the pure beauty of left handed swings in real life.Comment

It's totally because of that for me, personally. I'm absolutely useless with lefties versus good lefty pitchers, more so than the reverse.Comment

2nd best is beating the shift with a hit that normally would have been a ground out to third and 1st is beating the shift with a ground ball seeing eye hit into right field. as for the closed off stance I cant hit with them. our batting coach sends any hitter with this flaw back to the stance editor room to work on opening that sucker up lolOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

I honestly can’t time up a righty hitter nearly as well as I can hitting as a lefty. I have no idea why..

Re: It's just more fun to bat as a Lefty
It's true I always gravitate towards lefties in drafts and trades. It's not written in stone, but I always list it as a plus when scouting a player.
The one area it really effects my decision making though is guys who are reliant on speed. I mean, if a guy is relying on speed for his offence and he has to start out of the right-handed batters box, that's just leaving free distance on the table. Although a good drag bunter can lean into their start, so there are positives.
Question for this thread though: Does the ideal first baseman throw left or right?
I've played a long time with a lefty as my starting first baseman, but recently I've "allowed" more righties to man the base, and I'm starting to see that both have advantages and disadvantages.Comment

for me its lefties becaause of the throwing motion to 2nd for double plays and also the abilty to make a tag much faster when you try and pick a runner off 1stComment

If a guy is a right handed thrower and he has already slid all the way down the defensive spectrum to 1B, he should have one heck of a bat to back it up.Comment
