Re: MLB The Show 20: Update 1.08 Now Live With One Notable Tweak for Fielding
For those interested in discussing the game, and the patch, here's a stream of my latest game. I apologize for x'ing thru at times and the poor play at times, but I'm trying to get this in for people to see and I'm feeling a little rough.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: MLB The Show 20: Update 1.08 Now Live With One Notable Tweak for Fielding
Would someone mind a small favor and check to see if you can still Player Lock before the game once it has started? You need to choose "Player Lock " on the Franchise menu before entering a game.
When the Pitcher takes the mound you should see a call out in the lower left of the screen asking you to "Sim To Next Appearance" Or "Watch Full Game" before the first pitch is thrown.
I know it might be small to some but this is a huge feature for me and waited many years for it to happen. I am still playing on the day one release of 1.02. Because I did not want this feature to be removed.
Kindly Appreciated!

I know that's not exactly what you're looking for, but I just wanted to let you know. You don't necessarily need to risk updating your game to see if this functionality is good enough for you, because it probably works that way in 1.02 too in-game.
Just to elaborate: I know you want that specific ability to change it in pre-game so you can watch every pitch of the game. I don't know if enabling playerlock in-game will allow you to do that to your satisfaction. You could playerlock the first pitcher or batter, let that at-bat play out and then the full game option will appear after and stick even if you jump out of player lock and back in onto a different player.
But the bottom line is if you don't want to risk it not being what you want, stick with what you've got.Last edited by bcruise; 04-11-2020, 11:28 PM.Comment

No, you cannot. At least not from the pregame lineup screen. However, you CAN toggle player lock for your user team once you're into the game - before the first pitch, if you like. You can lock anyone in the starting lineup from the Substitutions screen with highlight+R2, and the starting/current pitcher with L2 (because they won't show up there when the DH is being used).

Much appreciated thank you for the response. I had a feeling they would revert it back to how it worked in previous versions. I'm stuck with the wrong batter information being displayed in Franchise when a player walks up. So its a sacrifice I must make unfortunately.Proud member of the 0.04%Comment

Re: MLB The Show 20: Update 1.08 Now Live With One Notable Tweak for Fielding
Still seeing the issue where the player actually DOES lock in, but does so at such a distance that the slowed movement keeps you from actually getting to the ball in time. And I am also still seeing the issue where the outfielders still just run over and around the ball and refuse to pick it up.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

And I just got walked off in my franchise mode due to Acuna just not going into an animation until the ball had landed.

Re: MLB The Show 20: Update 1.08 Now Live With One Notable Tweak for Fielding
Just saw two really awful new fielding glitches that happened multiple times.
The first glitch: The fielder locks in place and you cannot hit L2 to switch fielders.
This happened twice on balls hit into the gap to the outfield in which case it didn't matter to much since the AI was the CF who would have made the play anyway.
The other time though was terrible, as the catcher was locked into the crouch behind home plate on a poorly hit ball just past home plate. It would not let you switch and it took the first basemen to wait until the hitter was running to second and the runner who was already on base was about to score until he charged the ball to try and make a play.
The second glitch: This happened twice after a ball was hit to the first basemen and he attempted to flip it to the pitcher who was going to run to first base. The pitcher would catch the ball and freeze directly in place and not move.Comment

this is absolutely still happening repeatly can we get as many bug reports in from us who are getting this...its not a skill issue here the players are simply getting locked in on routine plays too far from the ball and they literally do the same reach out shoestring animation and miss the ball and are even being charged with an error on foul ball pop ups which is another bug problem. this is clearly a problem still especially on pop ups or simple fly outs it just wont let the player get to the catch region when they clearly had plenty of timeLast edited by tytyboogie; 04-12-2020, 01:09 PM.Comment

Fielding has to get fixed. This is awful. I'm getting frustrated. I don't mind losing, but 2 to 3 times a game this stuff is happening. Not locking in until late and not in the right spot.
