Lefty change up breaking wrong direction?

Anybody else notice this? I’m facing gio Gonzalez, his change up is breaking towards his glove side.

Some straight changeups do that. Kyle Hendricks throws a cut change along with his traditional circle change that fades arm side

Interesting. I wonder how the game dictates who’s change up does that and who’s doesn’t then? I’ve never seen a cut change in the show

I believe it's based on pitching motions. Gonzales' motion may be programmed with that effect while an extremely similar-looking motion may not.

FWIW all of Gio Gonzalez’s pitches break toward his glove side, even his knuckle curve breaks down towards his front foot.

Most offspeed pitches break glove side. The exception is change ups, 2 seamers and knuckle balls obviously, never know where the heck they're gonna end up. I dont recall ever seeing a curve ball, slider, knuckle curve break in the opposite direction of the natural throwing motion.

Screwballs break toward the pitcher's arm side as well, but I don't think anyone throws one in real life. Bacon's fictional roster has a few guys that throw it.

That’s awesome the Show even replicates that. I’ve been playing this game forever and never noticed. Didn’t even think they could do that in game.
