Baserunning is the worst it has ever been since I started playing the Show around a decade ago. I really can't believe how bad it is.

I was thinking the same thing.

Add that to the current fielding issues we are having and some obvious graphic issues right in front of our faces witch are some simple fixes SDS needs to get some things done to improve this games playability. Those guys have all the tools they need to fix this stuff even in the state of the current events going on right now I just think now they need to do it and they don’t have any excuses or bail outs now. Keeping us players in the dark is not a good move though even with what’s going on out here in this time. They do have all the tools to get this stuff fixed for an improved playability. I quit buying Madden 3 years ago because of the poor rosters and poor gameplay and design and Mlb the show seems to be going down the same path now witch really sucks for us diehard baseball fans!!!
Amen, bro. Already this season, I’ve had THREE runners thrown out at 2nd on what should have been base hits to the outfield because they would hesitate, turn back to first, and then go to 2nd. By the time they are finally headed back to 2nd, they’re thrown out by a mile. It’s such a rally killer too!

Both baserunning and fielding are brutal at times! Other than hitting/pitching, they’re the most important parts of gameplay, yet they keep taking steps backwards or have been neglected altogether.

Wish they would just add option to:

Set base running ONLY to a quasi-coach mode where you (as manager) could send in sign
-To Steal and player (based on his ability or lack there of) would
            - get good/bad jump
            - get picked off leaning
            - miss call (or misread call & get chewed by 1st base coach)

Also, with some players with extreme speed/skill you could just set on automatic to steal/stretch hits on their own.....

            All based on their ratings

The above to a coach mode within regular play mode type thing.

As an optional way of playing.

To me, the basepaths would be fun that way...coaching aggressiveness adjustments being made as game went along.
              ———-
One final feature (that would never been put in but still real) that would be epic would be if other teams could steal your signs...AND you would not find out about right away in dynasty modes

You're right that it won't ever be added because MLB would never allow it. MLB has say so over that sort of thing, not SDS.

But..I would like to know your baserunning and fielding throwing sliders settings, because I never see a Cpu baserunner stretch singles into doubles.
Cpu baserunning for me is horrible they don’t attempt to take any chances or challenge throws from outfield ....

Default sliders across the board. All-Star difficulty. This has been toned down some since I originally posted, but I did see it in a game I played last night. It seems to be if there's a slight hesitation in throwing the ball in from the OF, the CPU will take off trying to get an extra base. The ball last night was hit right at my left fielder, and I easily threw the CPU out by 5-6 steps.

Thank you....I’m hoping for next edition of the Show to have a “Base-running Aggressiveness” team slider, so a manager can make his team more aggressive or “Neutral” or “Cautious” depending on game situation or his personal ect

For as good as this game is overall, the base running is pretty terrible. I can’t tell you how many games that should have been high scoring games that end up being 3-2 or 4-3 final scores because the bad base running takes runs off the board for both teams. I would estimate that out of every 10 hits I get with a runner on second using auto base running, maybe 4 of them will end up scoring. Same for the CPU team. Base runners are too cautious at times they should be aggressive, and too aggressive when they should be cautious. The only time I ever see high scoring games is if each team smashes a ton of homeruns, because it’s almost impossible to get runs in without them. Nothing more frustrating than seeing each team with 10 plus hits at the end of a game, and a final score of 3-2.

What gets me is the lack of obvious tag up situations in this years game. Deep drive to right center, center fielder catches the ball running away and the runner on second, let's say he has 52 speed (not that slow) will flat out not advance.

I am about ready to move on from this. I have tried very hard but they have totally ruined this.

                              Today game Yankees at Astros

Bottom 1st Springer on Second, Altuve hits a blooper beyond third, Springer goes back to second and then when the ball drops goes to 3rd and is thrown out by 10 feet.

Top 2nd Andujar Hits it high off the wall in left and stops at first. Next Batter Stanton hits it over the RF head to the wall, Andujar stops at second. Torres strikes out and Voit hits into a 5-4-3 DP to end the inning.

Just awful. Whatever patch 1.10 did basically toasted the game for me

1 thing, that I feel helps improve baserunning is editing base running ability. Whoever does the ratings for MLBTS always does a piss pore job on baserunning ability being too low for most players, as well as baserunning aggressiveness being to low overall for many players.

Ive edited both of these things, every yr I have bought the game for several yrs now. Its a pain to do, especially if you hate having to spend time editing, but it does improve baserunning of players. I use auto baserunning, so it effects both me and the CPU, without editing these 2 things. Even the great rerated roster makers, tend to not get it right with these 2 things.

There use to be a spreadsheet on here that Knight I think put up several yrs ago, for rating players, and how to rate players baserunning skills, and stealing %. I can't remember the exact ratings to base players on to their stolen base % and aggression, but you should be able to search for it on here.
