Great news. Hopefully some of the larger issues are solved by this patch.

Thank goodness. A couple of days ago, I had this happen to me THREE TIMES IN ONE GAME with my RTTS right fielder.

Balls just bounced over his shoulder, or past his glove without reacting--and his Fielding and Reaction ratings were almost at 80 by this point.

And then they'd settle at the base of the wall, and I'd be running over the ball, my guy not picking it up.

But that's fixed now? I knew there was a reason this was the only sports game I still buy every year.

Since the things addressed in these patches only become a problem when they actually happen, this is all I will say for now - wall/warning track catches are still an issue. They should be difficult catches when made on the run, make no mistake - but the issue is that they don't trigger catch attempts sometimes. If the fielder's near the ball landing some kind of animation needs to play, even if it's a miss. That kind of feedback to the user is critical.

No comment on the issues that are are listed as fixed in the patch - because knock on wood, I haven't had any yet. Been trying too - doing stuff like purposely getting to balls as late as possible, feathering the stick as lightly as i could, even to walking speed - and catches have triggered on everything I've been within range of.

Re: MLB The Show '20: Update 1.09 (Fielding)

Just so it's out there, this CAN still happen:

              <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ihNAO-jfX2s" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Everything about the way I played this ball is wrong, at least in the context of playing a video game. It's hit so high and over Schwarber's head that I shouldn't be trying to jog back on it - after the bad jump that needs to be a full sprint to get under the ball, and it would have been were I playing seriously. Unlike some of the previous videos I've posted, this one is me doing the jog manually and not being throttled by the game - I had the option to go full speed here and didn't. Not only that, but Schwarbs isn't exactly a gold glover out there. But all that aside, I still want to at least see an animated attempt on a play like that - it goes back to what I was saying about the wall catches not triggering animations (which this actually ends up pretty close to being).

If those still happen on plays that need a light touch on the analog stick with no other option, then there's still a problem. Fortunately, I have not seen that yet and aside from the real wall-catches (ones where the landing cursor actually shows up on the wall) this is the first time out of around an hour of fly balls in practice mode that I muffed one. While trying to make it happen.

3 innings in, 3 errors. 2 throwing and one fielding... all in the infield.

At least I’ve caught a few fly balls without any trouble?

Spoke too soon, my 2B dropped a routine pop up... 4 errors in total.

Haven’t had a chance to play post patch. So did this fix the fielding? And any changes to gameplay?

we'll see the real question is how on earth did this game get shipped out like this after a beta and community testing

Can we please not do this here, in this thread? Can we please keep this thread to the topic of discussing the patch and what people are seeing and experiencing, so that any additional issues can be brought to the attention of SDS?

There are other threads where this type of discussion can take place, and if there isn't then create one, but please can we just keep this thread about the patch/update?

The games I played as a Beta tester were unplayable with analog throwing. Something was amiss with the Rstick, so every preloaded throw, the controller input made the fielders dive in whichever direction you were intending the throw to go to.
So a throw to second on a one hopper to the left fielder, made the left fielder dive back towards the wall before the ball even got there.
The Beta test had absolutely no input from Analog Throwers that was helpful. I had multiple inside the park homeruns as a result. Beta was busted.

One game in post-patch and it was a clean game, there definitely is a different “feel” to where the area of animation takes over. Hard to put a finger on it, but something feels tightened up. I’ll be interest to hear more feedback as folks play post-patch.

It's crazy, I responded to someone on Twitter a few weeks back saying that I was not seeing this, then almost immediately, I was having issues every game. To the point that I rage quit a game yesterday after the 3rd or 4th incident in that game, and have not played since. I do not remember the last time I was that angry at a game. I hope that it is now fixed.
