Anybody who plays the game can see this issue. I have looked at this from every possible angle.
You are assuming it's a glitch when it's probably just a lack of animations. If they were to fix it they would more than likely just add a new animation so that the hand doesn't go over the bag at all when you are out.

I’ll feel like I should have gotten a massive jump, but then when the pitch is released, my runner is still spinning his wheels getting going to 2nd. Talk about a rally killer!
I've had the same problem as you with stealing. I've tried every method suggested here and none of it works, so I just don't steal anymore. I had a guy with 82 speed 80 steal get thrown it by 2 steps because he didn't leave first until the pitch was almost out of the pitcher's hand

        Re: Stolen Bases

My question is what are the minimum numbers I should be attempting steals with? Like is 61 speed and 38 stealing a waste of time or is that a guy who should be taking off a dozen or so times a year? What about 81 speed with 23 steal? I wanna say I even have a guy with 50-something speed but also has 50-something stealing. Thoughts on him?

I’ve had a very slow team for years and years; this is the first season I’ve actually had some decent speed (ranked 6th in the league). But I’m still running my team likes it’s slow because I’m still seeing my fastest guys get throw out at like a 66% clip. If i had to guess I’m probably something like 11 for 26 on the year in almost 100 games.
        Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.

It doesn’t even seem to matter. Like I said, in my Royals franchise Whit Merrifield (70+ speed, 70+ steal ability) and Mondesi (90+ speed, 90+ steal ability) are getting thrown out half of the time when I attempt a steal. That just shouldn’t happen.

A combination of terrible reaction to my good jumps, and perfect throws from the catcher. That’s what really kills me. I have yet to see a throw from a catcher that didn’t take the 2nd baseman’s glove right into the runner. It’s maddening.

There is a "glitch" that allows you to steal bases with practically anyone of any speed. It's a shame that sometimes it takes this to steal bases when trying to do everything the right way fails.

Hold R2 (to prevent pitches), take two lead off steps, hold L2 (for steal), then release both L2+R2 at same time when the pitcher is completely set and not moving at all.

Just be careful as the pitcher will at times throw over. It's not a guarantee pickoff by any stretch, but it adds to the cat and mouse of baserunning. Also you'll notice the pitcher changing how long he holds the ball before pitching.

                  CB,

Refresh my memory. one press of L1? Just press and release (or tap it)? Or multiple presses? Or hold down L1.

I did this all the time and know it works well. But this year.....it has been really tough.

                      Re: Stolen Bases

I bumped baserunner speed and stealing up one notch, and lowered pick off to zero, and it plays pretty much the same as it has for years for me. The CPU is still paranoid as anything trying to pick me off all game, but there's no way to eliminate that, I guess.

I use auto baserunning, hit the button to steal before the pitcher starts his windup, take a one step lead as he's getting set, and then try to take my second step as he's about to throw the ball to home.

There are issues of course, and times when I clearly make it to the bag and then get called out, but I have about an 80% success rate.
Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.

I feel anything to do with baserunning in this game is just awful... my team success rate for trying to take an extra base or trying to steal a base is far lower than CPUs.. I play with auto baserunning so go figure

The stealing base sim stats are terrible , too many players that never steal bases have way too many attempts
For ex. I'm 73 games into my Jay's franchise and the top 5 teams with most caught stealing attempts are 41,39,39,38,36.. well in 2019 at the end of season in real life was 47,39,38,38,37...
I have tried many slider variations to at least better the statistics, I've seen no changes
                        I've even tried player attributes
                        Toronto Maple Leafs
                        Baltimore Ravens

Exactly. Those numbers are exactly why I decided to post this thread in the first place. Merrifield and Mondesi are so fast, and rated so high that it is inexcusable for them to have basically a 50% caught stealing rate in my Royals franchise. And I’ve been playing The Show for over a decade. It’s not like we’re all new to this game and haven’t mastered the art of the stolen base. That’s why there’s so much frustration with the baserunning. It’s broken.

I’m kinda used to the stealing being an issue.

What I will complain about though is I hate how this year I’m being picked off at 2nd base. I’ll hit a double with 2 outs, I have no desire to steal 3rd..yet the cpu will successfully pick me off at 2nd when I haven’t even taken a lead or anything. Inning over, picked off at 2nd with 2 outs and a runner in scoring position.

My guys get picked off at first a lot more than I would think is reasonable, but I haven't even had the CPU throw to second this year a single time, as far as I can remember.

Man that’s crazy. My last game I got picked off twice at 2nd with 2 outs. I was furious.
