I disagree with this. I don't believe there is any sort of comeback code or predisposed outcome in this game. If that were the case, wouldn't the results be the exact same every time you loaded up to play the same game?

There is an inherent randomness in every outcome in the game - every pitch, every AB, every fielding chance, every throw - the same as real life.

If the Mets played the Cardinals with the same lineups and same pitchers 1,000 times in a row, each and every game would be unique.

Not a predisposition to the outcome, per se.

Just a tilt, and it could be for or against you.

Or the whole thing could be placebo effect, as it is just my opinion.

And as I reiterated above, I am not opposed, nor do I see it as a negative. I believe as you said, there are so many things that go into a real game. Someone's neck is a little tight, someone's loved one is sick and his mind is not 100% on the game, someone has a sore wrist but doesn't tell anyone... There are so many factors that organically change the game, but a computer doesn't get those factors....

Unless... they are programmed in there, to make the games play out differently every time.

Again, not a bad thing.

I've been saying for YEARS that the game leans in a direction. Is it possible to fight out of? Yes. Is it probable? No. Y'all can say what you want but after playing literally thousands of games over the past decade, there is literally no doubt whatsoever that the game sways in a direction every game before the first pitch is thrown. But hey, what do I know, I'm just Padgoi, the comeback guy.

Explaining this is tough on a forum versus in person, but I'll expand just a bit.

In real life, after playing baseball for more than 40 years, there are days. There are days where you stand on the mound and you feel it. And "it" is not always good, not is it bad... some days, it's just.. it.

There have been days where the curveball is just filthy, and you know it, and there are days where it just is a spinner. The question is why, and how would that be replicated in a video game, where there are no external factors to deal with. This goes beyond weather and humidity, and ailments, and muscle aches...

By all rights, when I pitch Chris Sale in the game, the virtual Chris Sale will have the same exact accuracy, same exact pitch speeds, same exact margin of error- every game. But it is obvious it is not the case. I have proven this with my restart tests, and there can be a 3-4 mph speed difference between starts. This had to be programmed in there. There had to be a variable whereby the game makes concessions for the organic nature of how things play out, otherwise it will be the same EVERY GAME.

Somewhere, deep down in the program, deep down in the coding, there is "something". And that something is a virtual dice roll that changes the PCI size, changes the pitch speed, changes the timing, changes the fielding attributes, changes the chances of errors, throwing accuracy...

There is a tweak system in place, and it goes beyond what we get to see. There HAS to be, and I LOVE the fact that it is in there, as it allows games to have remarkably different incomes and inputs, instead of Chris Sale throwing a 2-0 shutout everytime, hitting the target everytime, and making the game a snoozefest.

I am not conspiring to say the game cheats, and you can't win and fight off the tilt, but I will not back down in my belief that there is an uphill/downhill/even slant that is in the mix every game.

There has to be. For the good of the game.

There is some merit to the computer learning. For example, I was using the 2003 rosters and had Shawn Estes pitching well for six innings. After reading this post, I went to pitcher analysis, and saw he was basically throwing curves and 4 seam fastballs all game. He only threw a handful of cutters and change ups. And so come the 7th, after bad calls and control issues caused Estes to walk the first batter, he got the next 3 out easily.

Estes got through the 8th before Dusty Baker handed the ball to Joe Borowski to close it out, which he did.

I agree that there is a random dice roll, but I believe it happens with every action throughout the course of a game. Player ratings and user input influence the dice roll, but it's a random dice roll nonetheless.

Sometimes it rolls my way and sometimes it doesn't, but I don't think the game is pushing me one way or the other before every game.

I don't see why SDS would make a game that is trying to make me win/lose before the first pitch is ever thrown.
