Because they do not have designated roster spots. So under the current roster construction you would have to release players from your roster to add the draft picks, which personally I wouldn't want to do.

Until they expand the rosters/redo the roster construction, this method, imo, is the best solution.

And under the transaction tab, there is an option to view how teams acquired players on their roster (can't think of the name), you can use that in the offseason to see who teams drafted so that you can edit them.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

It's not a big deal since pretty much nobody makes AA the same year they were drafted anyways.

There have been some guys who have made the majors the same year they were drafted.

I go to MLB.com using the draft tracker then go team by team and edit the players through there. You get age, height, weight, school, and most have photos and a synopsis (so if you draft a CF that has average speed but the draft tracker says he's like greased lightning you could adjust his ratings).

This is why I've longed for them to finally include full Single A teams. They could then use the format for the current Single A as a Rookie ball roster that would come active after the draft. It might be too difficult to program but I'm sure there's a way.

I also agree that we are way overdue for custom draft rosters and maybe a bit more story with the the players we're scouting? The draft in MLB The Show is a bit of a drag. I hope they actually put more effort into it in next gen but based on the lack of focus on Franchise as a whole I wouldn't be expecting it.

I was playing my NBA 2K franchise today and the draft/draft prospects depth levels are insane. You can create an entire draft class and then at the start of the franchise you can even choose to add storylines to the prospects that can make their ratings fluctuate. I think even for lack of features and updates made to Madden’s franchise, they’re still ahead of MLBTS with custom draft classes and ability to edit owners/coaches. SDS has a lot of work to do on PS5/XSX

              NFL: NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
              NHL: BOSTON BRUINS

I'll hold my breath on SDS putting in alot of manpower on franchise mode. It's not only them. All major sports games outside of 2k have been on the same trajectory.

Franchise modes are dying. It is sad. But that is a topic for another day.
