I think the entire conversation is moot, because I don't believe that this season will be able to be played to completion. The virus will win, aided by thousands of people who just don't care.

Re: Shortened MLB schedule
so you are saying that if someone gets a average of 400 in 60 games. that will be known as a record season to have a average of 400 because it was in 60 games not 162??
Or a pitcher with a ERA of 0.54 because in 10 starts rather then 28 he now pitched the greatest season of all time ?
this is why they shouldn't count.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Shortened schedule should be a thing to begin with, regardless of what happened IRL this year.Comment

Re: Shortened MLB schedule
MLB should have scrapped the season, and hit the reset button for next year.
Sixty game season is lame, it will not allow the deeper teams to rise to the surface as the grind of 162 takes its toll on the teams that get out of the gate quickly, but cannot sustain. There are going to be some major soft-tissue injuries that will manifest themselves, as the shortened spring training will not be long enough to get guys in shape.
Perhaps the biggest reason for my disdain this year, even for a lifelong baseball fan, is that I have grown tired of billionaires arguing with millionaires, about what is "fair" for paychecks, when a large portion of the world is suffering badly.
I have very little sympathy for a pitcher making 11$ million a year, complaining about only being able to collect 80% of his salary for playing less than 1/2 the games he could have played in. I have even less sympathy for the owners, who are upset their revenue stream is down to a trickle, because the guy who once brought his family to a game, and dropped $200+ between tickets and food and parking, is on unemployment, and has no income.
The season is a sham, sixty games is a joke, and it is disrespectful to those of us who are in the trenches and are digging out from a real **it show.
They should have bagged it, and got their houses in order for next year, done their negotiating quietly, and been a little more understanding for the masses, as opposed to crying about how a person can possibly live on 30$ million a year while working (once every five days for pitchers) for seven months.
This season is a joke.

yeah, I think it's all moot. there's no way they get past 40-45 games and have to reshut down again.

Re: Shortened MLB schedule
We don't need empty stadiums and shorten seasons also ruining our 'fake game' as well. it's the closest thing to "real baseball' we have right now it';s actually been the best year I have enjoyed playing the game because of it. felt like it really is my own world. I would be happy without a season this year.Comment

down here in Australia we along with new Zealand have been the only countries to the control the damm thing in a REAL way and our NRL comp has been able to go ahead since May 28 without issues. only outbreak lately is in 1 state. but thats only 40 cases a day nothing compared to the rest of the world that are getting.
Bring MLB to Australia we will run a safe comp in 2021Comment

Re: Shortened MLB schedule
you know it is a joke when the dodgers are projected to win 38 games... yes 38 games and that is the MOST,, that means you can make the playoffs by winning about 33 games this year.. bad teams who might have a good month it favors. it makes it to wide open. dodgers and Yankees are 2 teams that are disadvantaged here. the Rays are a team that will love this and a perfect case in point if they win a world series on 60 games they would hold a astricks.Comment

Don't forget though that the DH rule favors teams like the Yankees now in a world series they can stack up more power in NL home games.Comment

Re: Shortened MLB schedule
NHL and NBA are the only sports leagues who have a good argument to get started again. MLBs opening day is still almost a month away. Who knows where we are in a week let alone a month in terms of Covid. Stupid decision on MLBs part and good on the players who have backed out on playing this season.

Things and life are just gonna keep getting pushed back, we might not even get a vaccine. as far as sports go it is either now or never. this time next year we could be no different to where we are now around the world.Comment
