I rationalize it as placebo effect.

I've played nearly 300 games of MLB '20 and I've played quite a few after this latest patch. I don't see a difference in hitting now prior to patch 1.14.

And considering the patch notes do not specify any changes to the gameplay, just a bug fix, I don't believe based on what the devs say and my experience that anything gameplay related has changed.

I don't buy into the "changes were made but not listed on patch notes" theory.

You're beating a dead horse. He never sees these things and always blames them on placebo.

I've noticed the changes in hitting as well, the pci has literally changed every single patch.

The thing is I've backed up my claims by providing videos and photos of before and after patches.

You don't agree with me, that's fine, but don't try to portray me as someone who ignores changes just for the sake of ignoring, stirring the pot, or argument sake.

        Thanks

Did they patch in the new Phanatic? I saw a cut scene last night that I've never seen before of the Phanatic and he has some of his new look.

As have I. I posted pictures as well of the pci and in my opinion it has changed basically every patch.

I play MoM and I was wondering if anyone has noticed something about fielding.

I am seeing a lot more balls bouncing off fielders, especially infielders, but I've seen singles bounce off outfielders on occassion when they go to field the hop. It happens several times every game to both teams.

Is this something new with the patch? I don't remember seeing it before, at least not at this frequency, but maybe I just didn't notice.

I haven't seen anything different post patch versus what was happening before.

Question...in regards to the outfielders and the ball bouncing off of them on a hop, are they running in to field a short hop?

I'm wondering if you're seeing more of the new fielding animation where the risk/reward of fielding a ball in the outfield on a hop bounce off the fielder if he doesn't play it right?

I play MOM. I have one fielder whose fielding attributes aren’t that good and when a grounder is hit to him I close my eyes and hope for the best, but otherwise I’m not seeing anything unusual at all.

In a game last night, Springer was running in at a moderate pace to field a short fly to CF. It wasn't a dive attempt, which I was glad about since it was obvious he wouldn't have caught it. The ball hit the ground then he muffed it as he was fielding it. The ball rolled toward the infield after that about 2 steps away from Springer.

Oddly, at the time he muffed it, the batter was on first. In the time it took Springer to go 2 steps toward 2b and pick up the ball and throw it a short distance, the batter was sliding into 2nd. IMO, there is no way that runner should have tried for 2b, much less made it, especially with a speed of 57. The ball was just too shallow and the CF was coming toward second.

That sounds like one of the new fielder animations tied to the risk/reward feature

I played the Astros vs Oakland last night and Oakland's Chapman who has exceptional rating had 2 bounce off his glove as he dove for them. Understandable, just not something I had noticed before.

It didn't matter though for the batter. On the first one the ball bounced back half way to the pitcher and Chapman who was on the ground in fould territory still had time to get up, run to the ball and throw the batter out. I guess the 74 speed runner twisted an ankle enroute or something.

The second time the ball hit off his glove, again as he was diving, rolled about half way to the dugout and again he had time to get up, chase the ball down and throw the runner out at first.

The running speed of runners seems a bit inconsistant but that's a story for another day.

If they call taking a conservative approach to fielding a ball a risk/reward play, what do they call diving for the ball?

It was what I would call a routine play. The ball was right in front of him, hit the ground about 2 steps from where he was. He just muffed it when it got to his mitt. He fielded it the way I would have.

Anyway, I was just wondering if it was a recent addition. Guess not. I'm not complaining about it.

The risk/reward is more prevalent when manual fielding because a red indicator flashes to signal that diving for the ball may result in you missing it and it going past your fielder.

If you don’t dive then there is a chance the short hop will handcuff the fielder thus causing him to muff the catch.

There's something wrong in fielding...pitcher was going for the ball after broken bat hit... warps, misses the ball and runner advances to 1st. Also had a game earlier where RF reached for the ball over his shoulder, missed the ball and instead of grapping the ball (it was right next to him), he just stood there staring at the wall..

Players warping has happened sometimes during atleast the last two patches. Haven't cost a game yet tho but it's only a matter of time..
