Playing vs. Swimming in Franchise Mode

How many games do you tend to play during the season in Franchise mode?

There are too many games to realistically be able to play every one, but I hate simming large portions of the season. How do you guys deal with this?

Do you have a specific system of playing and simming or do you just do whatever you feel like at the time?

I play all 162+ games. I don't want to leave anything to the CPU. In Spring though (yes I do spring training. I love the position battles and evaluate players) I play a rotation and sim a rotation.

Madden get rid of the extras (SS/XF, HFA, media, scenarios, game plan) or turn them down considerably.

Yeah I play all 162 games of the regular season as well as Spring Training and playoffs.

For minor league teams I sim using the QUICK MANAGE option so I have a hands on as to what is happening with my clubs.

For me, I am in no rush to get through the season because I carry over year to year.
To answer the question though, about 6 months, depending how busy my year is along with other franchises I have going. See, I only really play MLBTS. I literally don't play anything else, so another reason I'm not in a rush lol

I pretty much do this as well. One game a series, sometimes two or even three if it’s a big one or vs an opponent I don’t see often.

(Sorry, had too....surprised Caufield hadn't already, lol)

In all seriousness, I am a "play every game" kind of guy. I've got about 35 games or so in Year 1 of my Braves fictional franchise and fully plan on going straight into Year 2 once done (probably in August). I can't stand simming, it feels 'dirty' to me or something, like I'm cheating or something (not judging others, just how I feel for my own purposes).
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

I play out every game but I never actually finish a season. I get bored after a while. I have other games I play too so I don't spend hours and hours on this one.

I usually play a full game, then player lock a few, full game, etc etc

Depends on my mood and how tired I am usually

If I were to sim I'd just play play every 5th game. That gets you through the rotation a good number of times. It's what I'm doing for the minor league games in my current franchise. I play every pitch of every MLB game though. I'm in no rush to get through multiple season since we have carry over saves. This year thanks to the 'rona I got through a season quicker than usual.

The Show just like real baseball is such a game of hot and cold that simming I feel like I miss out. Also I think the game does a good job at recreating baseball. Which makes 162+ games less of a grind. Not to say the game doesn't have it's faults but I rarely find myself saying WTF even is this. Compared to playing FIFA or Madden which are just okay at best and often leave me more frustrated than anything else.

Re: Playing vs. Swimming in Franchise Mode

I usually play one game each time through the rotation trying to play with a different starter each time through. Sometimes I'll break that pattern and play a couple of games through a rotation if there is a big rivalry game or a pitching matchup that I'm interested in. I like to play enough games that I feel how I performed had somewhat of an impact but not to many where I can't get in even one full season.

When it comes to sports games I enjoy the team building aspect just as much as actually playing the game so I like to try and get in as many seasons as possible. With all of the major sports titles I usually have a pattern that I play and sim games in except for Madden because a 16 game season isn't too difficult to manage but I will still randomly sim a game if there is a matchup I have no interest in playing.

most of the time I like to play all 162 but I'm not opposed to swimming if I already predetermined before Spring Training that's how I want a season to go.

Yea, I enjoy the process of seeing how players progress, Operating as GM, etc. I play one game out of each series until mid-Aug (if I’m in a close race, I’ll play it out). Main goal is to get into season 2-3 and so on. One season doesn’t do anything for me. In my NHL franchise I made it to season 4 and it was awesome to see draft picks grow and the change up of the team. I just finished Bacons season 1, and was headed to season 2 until he dropped the new rosters so now I’m back to season 1 lol. I wanted to do a fictional 30 team rebrand so these new rosters were perfect timing. Love to hear everyone’s take on this. Good stuff.
