Enough changes to upgrade
Have not made the jump from MLB 19 to MLB 20 yet. I've been waiting for patches Etc. I'm seriously considering upgrading to MLB 20 tomorrow because PlayStation store has it at half price. Are there really enough changes between 19 and 20 to be worth the upgrade. Thanks.Tags: None -

Other's will laud the improved catcher play but only blocking has improved which was needed big time. But fielding of bunts and swinging bunts is basically broken as the catcher rarely goes after the ball and stands there waiting for the pitcher who is much farther away to make the play. This has cost me many base hits allowed.
I have also experienced many slow throw animations by infielders which have cost me.
Hit variety might be better but only slightly. With a good slider set for your style of play 19 and 20 are mostly indistinguishable here.
All that being said, those are my main gripes with the game and they are the same gripes I had with 19.
Even so I'm having a blast playing a Classic Roster franchise. It is a really fun game if you make it out to be.

Re: Enough changes to upgrade
For half price I definitely think its worth the upgrade.
The gameplay on the field is better in '20 than it was in '19 all around. Hitting, pitching, and fielding all received upgrades/improvements over last year's title.
The presentation is also better in '20 even though we lost a theme this year. The stats that are mentioned and pop up helps immerse a player in their franchise.
So as for my .02, I'd say make the jump from '19 to '20.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Enough changes to upgrade
like GainzBro, I too enjoy classic historical rosters from the vault and the biggest thing for me this year is the ability to edit service time. I dont play diamond dynasty so I can't speak to that. I do wish you could turn off that pitch to 3 batters minimum rule. I suppose I could see that as a potential dealbreaker for those more finicky than I am.

Re: Enough changes to upgrade
I've been thinking about upgrading for the past few days after firing up 19 for the first time in a few months. It's back to full price on the PlayStation store, though. I barely would've thought twice if it were half price, but after spending the past few days researching, it seems like the changes aren't enough to merit an upgrade (based on the stuff I care about, anyway).
I would kill for an NFL or MLB game that actually put care into evolving franchise mode every year. Sounds like both The Show and Madden are basically carbon copies of the previous iterations.Comment

Re: Enough changes to upgrade
It doesn't seem to me that franchise mode as it stands now has not maxed out the PS4's capability, so I don't know what moving to the next gen will change. I fully expect updates to franchise will amount to the same coat of paint type thing we get every year already. Sure, it'll be next-gen paint, but just paint nonetheless.Comment

Re: Enough changes to upgrade
it's not that the Studio isn't improving franchise, it's the small incremental amount added each year. I want it all and I want it now. at this pace I'll be in my 70's before franchise is where I want it at today. but I don't blame the devs, I blame Sony for not adequately (to my liking) funding SDS. I really hope that's going to change with multi-platforms on the horizon. time will tellOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23
