Re: How excited are you for the show next gen?
While I'm hoping that the planning and timing of the NG switch means for a better first entry to the new consoles than previous years, and am certainly hopeful for the future of the series, my excitement is pretty tempered until I see what they've done for 21.
I'm happy with my franchise progress in 20 and have found a nice balance with it, so I'm currently of the expectation that I'll be holding out for 22 (and a slim hope for a PC version). I'd love to be given a reason make the jump this year though.Comment

Re: How excited are you for the show next gen?
I'm intrigued about what next gen could bring us. I'm less intrigued about MLB 21 specifically.
Now, they really didn't do a ton with MLB 20 post-launch after the first couple of patches. Sure, they released new cards and stuff for DD; but that's not digging into the core game too much.
I'm hoping that it means that they were really digging deep into the new game but I suspect we won't see the full fruits of that labor until MLB22. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure we'll see some cool stuff for MLB 21, but I'm not expecting a ground-breaking game quite this soon into a new console generation.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: How excited are you for the show next gen?
Pretty low expectations tbh, sure the new gen opens up a ton of potential for things they could do, but they've shown over the past 5 years the direction they want the game to go in so none of things seem likely to happen.
Hopefully they prove me wrong, but I expect more legends added to DD rather than more meat added to other modes. Shiny cards with high numbers on them will remain the priority for the forseable futureComment

Re: How excited are you for the show next gen?
I also have pretty low expectations. For one, the PS5 version will be hamstrung by the PS4, just like the PS4 version was hamstrung by the PS3 for a while.
Having to program for multiple platforms in itself adds complications to the monumental task of having to produce a new game every year, and it's only going to get worse as things move forward and the Show starts appearing on non-Sony platforms.
Add that on top of the trials of Covid, and I'll be shocked if the Show 21 adds much more than a pittance of features.
I actually hope that they throw in the towel and, knowing that they can't make any big game selling improvements anyways, take a step back and fix some legacy issues. There have been issues that have plagued this game since the PS3 days, and I know under normal circumstances they'll never get fixed because, let's be honest, fixing them isn't going to help them sell more copies, and they are a business with investors to answer to.

I would like to add Dualsense features to my list as well! Would be incredible especially during batting. But also in other simple aspects like actually feeling the popping of the mitt as the ball hits it would go a long way with immersion.

I didn’t know Madden had that. Sounds interesting!"When it's all set and done, reality is the best innovation."Comment

Re: How excited are you for the show next gen?
If I could land a PS5.....a 10, but I'm thinking this is going to be pretty near impossible until well after the start of the season.
The only good thing that has come from this lockdown (and trust me I don't think anything is good, just being rhetorical) is the developers might not have been able to sit together and come up with yet ANOTHER mode that I won't ever touch. This years game on the PRO is stellar, so I'm happy with it, but will get 2021 regardless because I just can't play the same schedule over and over again in the single seasons I play.Comment

Cubic Zirconium Dynasty - Sprint to Opening Day.
you'll have tens of minutes of fun in the most ultimate pre-season spring training battle mode the free world has ever seen.
play as your favorite Grapefruit or Cactus League team!
play against your other favorite Grapefruit or Cactus League teams!
the fight for the last bullpen spot never seemed so possible!
but wait, there's more!
there are TWO spring training parks to play in!
and if after Opening Day you want to continue your sprint, this mode is definitely right for you. because you can.

Re: How excited are you for the show next gen?
For me..
I'd like to see more classic stadiums,
a way to change the managers and create a manager (would love to be able to add Herzog, Lasorda, ect),
I would also love to see them allow you to add or delete teams in your franchise. It would be awesome to be able to do past seasons without the expansion teams but have the option to add them later in the franchise mode.
Or even better.. bring it to PC so we can MOD it!Comment

Re: How excited are you for the show next gen?
from what I can gather, the city of Detroit must still own the rights to Tiger Stadium. and I figure they aren't going to let Sony use it cheaply. and it doesn't make economic sense for Sony to overpayOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: How excited are you for the show next gen?
But what about all those diamond dynasty dollars? 😉
In terms of excitement - I suppose at the end of the day I have to keep in mind that Sony is a business, and from that standpoint know that the objective will never change: make the most money using the cheapest resources (or maybe in this case - allocation of resources towards priority modes - $$). That’s not a knock on the devs (whom I’m sure would love to implement our greatest desires into the game), nor is it to say there isn’t nice things to look forward to. With that in mind, I have to be realistic and know that the expectation of getting my socks blown off in this era of sports gaming is perhaps setting the bar too high. Madden is a nice example of that.
I’ve extrapolated that competition is needed for this franchise. I would be more excited about next gen baseball if a competent competitor stepped in and challenged Sony, and I mean *really* challenge. When (you know who) was around, Sony was at its innovative “best”, if you will. It’s unclear if RBI will ever intend to get to that level, but they may well be the closest thing to competition Sony has right now.Comment

Re: How excited are you for the show next gen?
I’m hoping to see a complete overhaul with the crowd and stadium environment. I’m a big fan of Sounds of the show. SDS needs to put the sounds of airplanes and jets passing overhead into the stadiums where you hear them in real life. The same with police and ambulance sirens. Put all the unique sounds in that are heard at the Giants’ stadium. Do this where it’s there day 1 out of the box.
Increase or decrease the sound of cheering based on how full or empty the stadium is as well as the occasion. If it’s a spring training game, cheering should be there, but put it at the volume level where it should be. If the home team is losing 15-3 in the 8th inning and most of the home crowd has filed out, the cheers shouldn’t be that great due to the score and lack of fans. Where it should show out is during a tight game and especially in the playoffs/World Series when the home team scores a crucial run late. Have the place explode with excitement.
Make it where we can assign songs to be played between innings using Sounds of the Show. Simplify it by putting the songs in the inning slots and make it where the clip fits perfectly and automatically without any tinkering necessary from us.
Lastly, add all the chants such as the Tomahawk Chop where it can be heard day 1 out of the box.
As an earlier poster said, add a ton more animations and take out some that have been around for too long.Last edited by BigOrangeVol4Life; 01-12-2021, 03:03 AM.Comment
