I'm fine with it as long as they expand/improve franchise mode. I start over year after year anyways.

Re: MLB The Show 21 Will Be Missing a Signature Feature
Not having carryover saves is going to cost them sales big time. People spent months/years making rosters and all for nothing now. I cannot start from scratch. All the classic rosters will be gone. I just don’t understand how this can not be in the game. Also going forward if it’s not going to be in future games and roster creators are going to have to create every year from scratch? Ya ill pass.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 21 Will Be Missing a Signature Feature
If we are doing a positive reading of the tea leaves. Expanded rosters IMO will 99% be in. But it will not be in for the PS4 version. They made it pretty clear they could not do it for that console years ago.
Hence why some features of 21’s franchise mode will not be on the PS4 version.
Here is my list which has your #1 as my number 1 as well:
1. Expanded rosters to include full A ball as well as 12 additional slots for non roster invitees
2. New scouting system (Fog of War ala NHL series)
3. New draft presentation and at least 15-20 rounds
4. Retain all the MLB rules of 20 (I am talking the handbook folks)
5. Revamp of in game presentation to have historical matchups, player splits, really get into the statistical matchups more during the game
6. Fully functional replay system like in the MLB.
7. Revamped presentation inside the franchise hub with a better radio show or monthly around the league
8. Hot Stove presentation during the Winter Meetings
9. Expanded roster of umpires and unique personalties and plate tendencies for them.
10. Editable managers and coaches
11. Tune the player quirks
12. Tune Morale
13. Really tune under the hood AI (bullpen management, lineup management, draft logic, fantasy draft logic which was great on 20 do not lose that!)
14. Pitcher/Cather relationships and player relationships in general. RTTS has this to a degree. Expand on that inside franchise mode and tie it to morale as well.
15. Catcher intelligence rating in how they call a game if using API and also tie that in with a pitchers confidence in that catcher.
I am assuming 30 team control and all of the options we have from the last 2 generations will remain. At least we hope. I am assuming all our control options will remain, camera options etc etc.
That list is a stretch. In fact a huge stretch. If we get at least the expanded rosters, revamped scouting and drafting and AI logic improvements along with everything we have now in franchise mode and Y2Y returning in 2022.....Yeah I will be a very happy camper.
I want to be able to purchase MLB 22 as a no doubt easy decision.
Since I am staying on the PS4 this years game is an easy pass on release. If I see some really cool features I want to play....I can get the game this holiday season for $10 bucks or less and have some fun with it.
I have so many questions and hopefully they will all get answered next month.
Fingers crossed they take franchise mode and gameplay to new heights on the PS5. Would love nothing more!!!JUUUUUUUST A BIT OUTSIDEComment

It IS still possible that we'll be able to load MLB 20 rosters from the front-end menus...just not franchise/RTTS saves.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

MLB The Show 21 Will Be Missing a Signature Feature
Bear in mind....we know nothing about roster carryovers. Remember that they added a roster import feature in MLB 20 (where you could import rosters from MLB 19). We don't know if this remains or if it too is gone.

Josh.....if expanded rosters are in....that roster load feature is gone.
They IMO and this is pure speculation at this moment, re did the code logic and all rosters from previous versions will not be compatible with what they supposedly have done to the core game.
Just my guess.
However....if rosters are still 90 man then yes it is possible. But then that will open up another can of “venting frustration” from long time players to put it lightly. Lol!

The only thing I would add is player import. Being able to import SCEA caps or any caps into an existing franchise would be incredible and help not only franchise players but roster makers as well. They talked about it in the past and if that is one of the reasons Y2Y saves was removed it will lesson the blow for me.
I'm sure this years game will be awesome as always, but I've spent 7 years of my life and 10 "Show" years building my Cubs team. Playing every pitch, at bat, every game and I'm just not willing to give that up, yet.

Re: MLB The Show 21 Will Be Missing a Signature Feature
I sincerely hope they bring back the option to play Season mode and also to be able to play a 14, 26, 56 etc amount of games during the season. NBA2K lets me chose to play a 14 game season etc, so why SSD chose to remove this option a couple of MLB The Show's ago to me is still very weird.
I dont have the time to play a 162 game season and I am nog interested per se in a Franchise mode. So yeah, bring back Season mode and let us chose how many games the season should be.
Option for
- 29 games (play every other team once)
- 58 games (play every other team twice)
- 87 games (play every other team thrice)
- 113 games (play every other team fourice(?))
- 142 games (play every other team fiverice(?))

Not necessarily. They could set it up so that 'filler' players are auto-added to the empty roster slots when porting a roster. I think it's 50/50 at this point as to whether or not it happens...but I also think the SDS devs understand how vital the creation community is to the success of this game.
The problem with franchise is that even if they did this...you'd begin majorly jacking-up the financials within the existing mode. And that isn't even accounting for the likelihood that the guts have been ripped-out of the mode itself, making the franchise file saves incompatible with the new mode.Last edited by JoshC1977; 02-05-2021, 11:02 AM.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 21 Will Be Missing a Signature Feature
If they do reintroduce shorter seasons, for me it is a must that all of the games within the division are not at the beginning of the schedule ( even in an 81 game season). This completely ruins pennant races IMHO.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 21 Will Be Missing a Signature Feature
1. Separate fatigue from injury. The "durability" rating is a joke.
2. Get rid of or fix the "expected role" being tied to lineup/rotation slots.
3. Scouting, drafting, and cpu-generated prospects need massive upgrading.
4. Would LOVE the option to use "old school" visuals like those that are in DD -- the earlier video game strike zones, colors, etc. Would add a lot to a long season.
5. MORE UNIFORMS. Baseball is HISTORY. C'mon, man.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 21 Will Be Missing a Signature Feature
This was bound to happen if Franchise mode was ever going to get a revamp or overhaul.
I very much expected this. I know many on here have had one going on for awhile. So that is disheartening.
But I hope the upgrades are worthwhile enough.Comment
