Re: If Y2Y saves don't return for '22, what will you do in regards to MLB '21?

I can't answer the poll. With year to year gone, I now have to weigh the impact of new features vs giving up my currently running franchise, just like I did in the past.

The fact that my franchise has been running for so long gives that option a lot more weight, but I can't omit the possibility of the features of 21 or 22 being enticing enough to make me quit, regardless of year to year returning or not.

I'll tell you one thing though, without year to year, the Show will no longer be an annual purchase. I may be prepared to give up on my current franchise, but that doesn't mean I'll be ready to give up on my next one.

I'm mostly ready for a reset due to roster issues that have cropped up over time. Since my franchise was based on a 2014 save, the attribute balance is off in 2020, creating this environment of inflated attributes. Speed is where it's the most evident. All of my MLB level players are way too fast, and it's impossible to find a player in the single digits. The slowest position player on my team has 34 speed. Meanwhile, on the real-life 2020 rosters, it's common to find guys with 20 speed or lower.

Hopefully we will be able to share rosters from 20 to 21. If Y2Y saves didn't make the cut and we can't share rosters, I will pass this year and stay with 20..too many classic rosters to keep me entertained.

So forgive me if this has already been discussed in detail, but is it an absolute that Y2Y is gone for the PS4 version this year? I can understand it going to the PS5 but if it's in fact gone for the PS4 as well then that makes my decision easy....I will not be buying 21. If Y2Y is gone for good then The Show sadly becomes a game that is no longer a yearly purchase for me. Honestly, that feature is the only reason why I've bought everyone since MLB14. That would be very disappointing if true. I just cant start a new franchise each year because I love playing all 162.

edit: I just saw the video with Sony statements. I will not be purchasing MLB21. I'm glad I found this out because I almost preordered it last night when I heard about the possible create-a-stadium addition. I would consider buying if they stated that Y2Y is returning going forward.

I was never a fan of Y2Y saves. I thought the idea initially was brilliant. But when players on your team get removed and replaced by random CAPs it became way less awesome. I guess the reason for that was some legal MLB issue.

But what do you guys think with the game coming to xbox! Will that allow room for a modding community to form eliminating one of the main reasons we all upgraded to the next years version was to get the new players face scans? The NBA 2k community eliminated that for me once I got the game on a high end PC.

I know it was not micro gameplay (fielding) features 21 years is a long time to get the concept of how a baseball game should properly play in my opinion.

I'm wondering with the addition of xbox if they are developing a game for 10 year olds and throwing the long time customers of the game under the bus.

If this is their play then they have lost me as a consumer. Y2Y got me for 7 straight buys. Before that I was on like an every 3 year type of run. I just can't play a baseball franchise with simming. Baseball for me is the grind of 162 and a franchise is a multi season experience of building an organization. Madden and NBA can get away with no Y2Y with me because football is 16 games and on the NBA I can and do enjoy a 29 game season since Basketball statistics are based on per game averages. While Madden is an every year buy (admittedly mistakenly in some cases), 2k is an every other year for me.

This is a bummer for me because I really only play 3 games (Madden, the Show and NBA 2K).

I play every game in manage mode until I'm mathematically eliminated and I take scouting, the draft and self imposed trade restrictions seriously.

When you do that you become invested in the game. If they would announce year to year saves will return in 2022 I would probably get the 21 version and I see no reason why they can't make that announcement other than they simply don't want to make the effort.

I've bought the game every year but I'm not going to throw away my franchise for the unknown.

No I don't think so, everyone knows that it's more mature people who purchase an xbox.

Already started my 2021 franchise with 20 with updated rosters and contracts and service time.

I might buy 21 later in the year if it looks like it will wow me but for now 20 it is

Not really anything to do with carry over though it’s the fact we can’t update rosters with exporting and importing from mlb 20 now and start from scratch and that means it be about July before we see a accurate roster, so that’s why sticking to 20 what I got now will be more accurate than anything there till July

Sorry if I’m misunderstanding you and this isn’t what you meant, but if it is, then just letting you know your carryover from 15 is almost definitely gonna be stuck on 20 even if Y2Y saves returns for MLB 22. If Y2Y comes back for 22 it will probably only be for files from 21.

I might try to carry over 20 into 21 season.I tried simming a franchise and making sure everyone on a roster had at least 3 years contract.I only did it with Baltimore to see what happens.I had the 40 man and as many minors as possible. After simming, too many active players retired for ability or other reason.I can't get a good 40 man with minors with too many retiring. Is there a way around not retiring active players ? Will theer still be minor league players named in mlb 21 from ridinrosters ? That might reduce the players needed to be put in rosters .

You can't carry over '20 to '21, carry over saves have been removed. Unless you mean your just going to continue playing last year's game in this current calendar year of 2021.
