Not buying it either this year also because of the lack of carry over saves. But in my case the lack of carry over saves affects the various RTTS players I have.
In MLBTS 17 (a month or so before MLBTS 18 was released) I created a starting pitcher drafted by Pittsburgh but traded to the Padres after the All Star break that first season because the Pirates wanted to turn him into a closer and I wanted to be a starter so that I could also hit with this pitcher. He's now half way into his sixth season at the MLB level. When he first joined the Padres, the club struggled in last place for the first few season, but as they years passed they got better. Then two seasons ago the team made it to the World Series (losing to the Astros in 5 games meaning my pitcher only appeared in one game that series). Then last season the team won the wild card game only to lose to Dodgers in a NLDS. But this season 100 or so games onto the 2022 season the club is sporting the best record in baseball 10 games or so ahead of the Dodgers. Plus on top of that, he is in the final season of a 5 year contract. I do want to play the 2023 season as it will be a year this pitcher goes to Arbitration and then I would like to play the 2024 season when he becomes a Free Agent. I would be open to staying with the Padres in 2024, but only for something like a 2 year contract. But I am also interested to see what other offers may surface in his Free Agent year. In other words I still have 1 1/2 more seasons to play with this RTTS player before I am ready to move on. Or I may keep MLBTS 20 on my PS4 and play out his entire career. Time will tell.
I also have two more RTTS players I also created in MLBTS 17 and these two players are on the Braves acting as kind of a two-way starting pitcher plus an infielder. I know in MLBTS21 I will be able to create one two way player instead of two. But until we know whether or not Y2Y carry over saves will return in the future, there is little incentive for me to kill these two Braves RTTS guys in favor of starting all over from scratch. Oh and these two players are poised to begin their 2021 season two weeks from now and I am planning (or at least attempting) to play one game a day with these two guys this season. But the 2021 season may be the last season I play with them. Only time will tell.
Finally I have two more RTTS players, but I view them more as batting practice players for my main Braves player. One (created in MLBTS 18) who after three years as a utility guy on the Giants finally landed the starting SS role on the team for the 2021 season. Then finally I have one more RTTS guy (created in MLBTS 19) who also acts as a batting practice guy but was immediately put into the starting SS role his rookie season with a not very good Tigers team. I can see my two Braves, my Giants and my Tigers RTTS guys possibly playing their last season this summer with MLBTS 20. But as stated, I would like to see what happens to my Padres SP once he reaches Free Agency. So the only way I end up buying MLBTS 21 is later on in the year if/when it goes on sale and all because carry over saves were turfed (and we still don't know why they were turfed).
