Not buying it either this year also because of the lack of carry over saves. But in my case the lack of carry over saves affects the various RTTS players I have.

In MLBTS 17 (a month or so before MLBTS 18 was released) I created a starting pitcher drafted by Pittsburgh but traded to the Padres after the All Star break that first season because the Pirates wanted to turn him into a closer and I wanted to be a starter so that I could also hit with this pitcher. He's now half way into his sixth season at the MLB level. When he first joined the Padres, the club struggled in last place for the first few season, but as they years passed they got better. Then two seasons ago the team made it to the World Series (losing to the Astros in 5 games meaning my pitcher only appeared in one game that series). Then last season the team won the wild card game only to lose to Dodgers in a NLDS. But this season 100 or so games onto the 2022 season the club is sporting the best record in baseball 10 games or so ahead of the Dodgers. Plus on top of that, he is in the final season of a 5 year contract. I do want to play the 2023 season as it will be a year this pitcher goes to Arbitration and then I would like to play the 2024 season when he becomes a Free Agent. I would be open to staying with the Padres in 2024, but only for something like a 2 year contract. But I am also interested to see what other offers may surface in his Free Agent year. In other words I still have 1 1/2 more seasons to play with this RTTS player before I am ready to move on. Or I may keep MLBTS 20 on my PS4 and play out his entire career. Time will tell.

I also have two more RTTS players I also created in MLBTS 17 and these two players are on the Braves acting as kind of a two-way starting pitcher plus an infielder. I know in MLBTS21 I will be able to create one two way player instead of two. But until we know whether or not Y2Y carry over saves will return in the future, there is little incentive for me to kill these two Braves RTTS guys in favor of starting all over from scratch. Oh and these two players are poised to begin their 2021 season two weeks from now and I am planning (or at least attempting) to play one game a day with these two guys this season. But the 2021 season may be the last season I play with them. Only time will tell.

Finally I have two more RTTS players, but I view them more as batting practice players for my main Braves player. One (created in MLBTS 18) who after three years as a utility guy on the Giants finally landed the starting SS role on the team for the 2021 season. Then finally I have one more RTTS guy (created in MLBTS 19) who also acts as a batting practice guy but was immediately put into the starting SS role his rookie season with a not very good Tigers team. I can see my two Braves, my Giants and my Tigers RTTS guys possibly playing their last season this summer with MLBTS 20. But as stated, I would like to see what happens to my Padres SP once he reaches Free Agency. So the only way I end up buying MLBTS 21 is later on in the year if/when it goes on sale and all because carry over saves were turfed (and we still don't know why they were turfed).

I'm going to wait and see what changes are coming to franchise, and how the PS5 version looks.

My Padres pitcher is in the midst of an interesting time of his career. Not only is he doing very well (this happens with RTTS players since it is very hard to prevent them from getting better year after year), but the team is also kicking butt. My Padres pitcher only plays once every five games, but the rest of the team is dominating the league right now. But the elephant in the room remains winning in the playoffs. The Dodgers had a rough start to their 2022 season. But lately they are playing well and will likely play the Rockies in the wild card game (LOL the top three wild card teams right now are the Rockies, Dodgers and Diamondbacks).

Oh another interesting thing about this Padres team is that Fernando Tatis JR is in the organization assigned to the AAA team as their starting SS. But I started my RTTS pitcher with a modified OSFM roster from 2017 when Tatis was just traded from the White Sox as a minor leaguer. Tatis will have to unseat Xander Bogaerts who signed as a free agent as the team's starting SS the year the club went to the World Series and Bogaerts still has two more years left on his 5 year contract.

So you don't see any of the issues in your game as I listed in the original thread? How? Do schedules rotate in your game, do base runners score from second on a hit to the wall, Do you see rain Delays in MOM? Heck who am I they may be happening for you. Congrats!!!!!!!!!!

I just had another crazy thought.. what if Y2Y saves are gone because the Indians have to change their name next year?? and any future games are not allowed to have the Indians in it and it can't be comparable?? I guess they could come up with a code that just changes that info but it's a good conspiracy to bring up the more they don't tell us why!

it's so crazy, it doesn't explain how carry-over saves worked from 2014-2020 with a dozen plus minor league teams changing their names and the carry-over reflected that.

I know I was joking.. while we are sitting here for days waiting on a answer I thought I would find some stupid ones lol

seriously though my thoughts are the xbox is the reason because it has no prior history with Y2Y and they didn't want a 2nd separate feature to deal with for 1 console only.. which means if I am right 2022 might have this back

Re: Why Buy The Show 21

Finally managed to get a ps5 yesterday, man what a hunt!
Played some mlb the show 20 on it, and in sharpest setting it looks even more amazing. So sharp and fluid, it feels like a new game.

                      So, now the dilemma.
Create your stadium? Love that option, especially when people create the old stadium that would fit perfectly with all the amazing classic rosters.

But.....are we getting those rosters on 21? No Y2Y saves really kills it for me.
                      Maybe roster imports are possible?
If so, i might start over with a great roster on 21 and enjoy the new stadiums and options of the ps5 version.

if the rosters cannot be transferred, and with no Y2Y i may just skip 21.
I'm sure it will improve in certain areas, but the way 20 plays on the ps5, and the above things missing in 21 im good as it is right now.

I'm also really curious if Y2Y returns in 22, at this moment i doubt it.

The problem is that even if they add back in carry over saves next year then it will probably only import this coming versions saves.

Which means eventually everyone will have to give up their rtts player/franchise when they do decide to upgrade. Unless you choose to just keep two versions of the game installed.

probably 3 or 4 reasons combined contributed:
                            1 - new to xbox
                            2 - next-gen PlayStation 5 (in 2014, the Shows debut on ps4, had a May release)
                            3 - pandemic much?
I may have even missed a reason or 2

Tbh none of the news this year has gotten me excited this year. I think the late release may be playing a part in that as well, since it is three weeks after opening day. I have been going back and forth on getting this years game. I have decided I will just play ‘20 this year. I can always try out stadium creator next year when PS5’s don’t require a first born child to purchase.

I am still hopeful for April 1st and some franchise news to get those show juices flowing. It will be weird skipping the day one show purchase for the first time since ‘06, but this years version just feels so uninspired outside of stadium creator. Which I can’t even presently use

you don't have to give up a first-born. there are other options and avenues to explore. how do you feel about rather instead name your next-born PSN?
