I swear MLB will introduce rocket bunts in the 21 season because regular bunts are just too boring.

any day now I expect Manferd to say if you successfully bunt your way on, you automatically go straight to second base.

and maybe this is explains why Manferd always tries to overcompensate, never been to second base before.

I'd also tend to think the cheesing online bunting would be drag bunting. if you can cheese online with regular bunting, that tells me defense is broken and overpowering regular bunting is probably the wrong way to fix, even if it is the quickest

Fingers crossed that complete fielding *overall* means they can put the bunting back to how it used to be.

Hopefully they've learned how to make the corners charge when someone squares early, no idea why the engine apparently hasn't been able to handle it.

Didn't they also call it a "fielding overhaul" a year or so ago when they made it so fielders (outfielders especially) would sometimes get bad jumps on the ball off the bat and taking bad lines to balls? That was an appreciated change, but hopefully they can continue to make fielders less robotic. Double plays should take longer to develop (thus making them slightly less likely to be successful).

Also, another problem with bunting right now is that the AI goes to 2nd way too often; they should only go to 2nd when the lead runner is clearly going to be out.

            This.
It always feels like the AI knows exactly on point, when you would arrive at 2nd and how many milliseconds are left, so they can turn their double play.

I've only seen it like ten times on a close play that the throw to second was too late and both runners were safe. It happened, but way too little, considering how close it is every time.

I just push button let go just after pitcher releases ball. Most realistic way once you get the timing down.

I will experiment more but feel like quick manage is the best option (for me anyway) on getting bunts to work.

Fun once you get the hang of it. The video was better but could only offer the following:20210310_134050.jpeg20210310_134133.jpeg20210310_134214.jpeg20210310_134230.jpeg20210310_134242.jpeg20210310_134305.jpeg

Oh, all this bunting talk reminds me...I wish they'd stop having the bat be translucent when you're in the bunt stance. The bat isn't obstructing your view so it's not necessary.

just another in a long line of things that should have an on/off option. I guess there are people who've complained they can't see the pitcher because of the bat?

                        Re: The art of bunting

The animations involved in bunting are off to me...the runner going from first to second especially. I swear I see them go sliding in and say to myself he will be safe, but he's called out even though the animation seems to show him get to the bag first.

Not going down any rabbit holes here but it is almost like predetermined that the runner will be thrown out. Why fielders are even going to second when it looks as if runner will easily beat the throw is another issue that needs examining. And never mind how many of those sac bunt attempts get turned into dps.

They really need to tighten up this area and let the data drive the results...not override it due to others who may use the bunt all too frequently. With the right ratings and data, this would not be an issue.
