Why is the show 21 catering to all the online DD modes and forgetting about offline true simulation franchise mode fans? I enjoy the grind of 162 playing games based off player ratings directional hitting classic pitching. This check swing mechanic is all stick skills. Why is this changing for offline?

Thank you for doing this. Really easy question for you regarding check swings.



Are you guys capable of putting back in the Discipline rating to drive the check swing result on simulation mode. Or does this decision on check swings have to be universal decision across all game styles.



As an offline franchise mode player it has become quite frustrating seeing online game players steering the ship on game play decisions such as bunting and now check swings.



I thought the point of now creating game styles was to make sure online wants and needs do not cross over to those of us who play offline vs the CPU exclusively.



So a simple answer on this is “can this be accomplished for simulation mode for MLB 22” would be greatly appreciated. Obviously the design decision was already made for 21.

motion seconded.
this has to be the $64,000 question so many of us have.
while I'm less bothered about the new check swing in 21
(on a scale of 1-10, for me personally, a 3)
as I am to where bunting has evolved the last several years
(but even there, on 1-10 scale, at most a 5 for me),
I wonder how feasible would be a global bunting slider that adjusts bunt power for offline only for Show 22 or 23 or beyond.

well, that's interesting:

question - does the change to check swings based on user input apply to directional batting...

answer - checked swings are user driven on all hitting interfaces

later:

question - are you doing away with the discipline rating? if not what does the rating do since it's no longer for check swings?

answer - ...high discipline makes checked swings easier to execute

Okay, good, i'm not the only one confused.

I wonder if what it does is eliminates the times where the batter checks despite your input.

Edit: But that would still mean it's attribute driven. Never mind guess we'll find out when the game drops.

Discipline rating is still a factor for increasing walks and directly influences swing decisions during fast-forward and simming. High discipline made checked swings easier to execute, but still affects the rate of automatically dodging near miss hit by pitches (i.e. preventing you from swinging at them).

So I assume if the discipline still matters for fast-forwarding and simming, then the AI would go by that when they are batting in games?

So, if I understand correctly....

If I am a user that plays every pitch of every franchise game, under the new paradigm, the following two players are "equal" for my team (assume all other ratings are equal):

80 Contact
80 Power
10 Discipline

80 Contact
80 Power
80 Discipline

If so, from a team-building perspective, this becomes problematic as it would be incredibly easy to for a user to "bargain shop".

In my opinion, I think this is the root why many of us in this forum have raised a concern about discipline's impact in Simulation game mode.

Not requesting an answer per se Victor, but just more 'food for thought'.
