Ball Player introduction, which sounds like a component of RTTS (probably the part where you can bring your RTTS player into DD). It's not a full rebrand since they are still using the term Road to the Show.

Re: MLB The Show 21 Feature Premiere | Fielding Overhaul -Starting in a few, discuss
Color me disappointed.
1. The robbing home runs animation looks nice, but seriously, how often does someone rob a home run in real baseball? It happens so rarely it's really a non-issue for me.
2. The new off z-axis plays look nice, but those over the shoulder infield catches on bloops look over the top. It seems like bloopers may not happen much anymore. Those infielders were literally making plays in mid-outfield. It just doesn't look realistic when an infielder is making a play that deep in the outfield.
3. I know many of you are saying this is PS4 gameplay on the PS5, but that hasn't been corroborated and if this is PS5 graphics, I'm highly disappointed as it looks exactly like the previous Gen graphics.

Agreed. It’s a (subjectively) small thing, but I think it goes a long way to the authenticity of the stadiums. The grass, and grass patterns, looks outdated and just often wrong in The Show. Kauffman has had a weird wavy outfield pattern for years that I’ve been begging to see removed in favor of a more often used straight grid pattern.

Re: MLB The Show 21 - Fielding Overhaul Focuses on Removing Annoyances
Can people stop blaming the pandemic for things not being as good as they should be (based on the footage so far)....2k managed to produce a next gen game during the same period.
We should expect more than improved lighting. There was a big step up PS3-PS4 with the show...things like the grass, player models, hair, crowd, stadiums etc. SHOULD look better.
I’ll accept the game isn’t released yet so we haven’t seen the final product but no next gen images isn’t good at this stage...they were much more eager to show off previously, with a gen upgrade.
It makes me think they haven’t done much to improve the visuals. Not a deal breaker as the game looks good anyway but I can’t help but be disappointed.Comment

Whether you want to blame the pandemic or not, history says The Show doesn't shoot out of the gates with a huge leap in year one with graphics, usually it's been year two for them with graphics.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). I write it, and it hits your inbox every Friday morning (for freeeeeee). We also have an official OS Discord you can now join.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 21 - Fielding Overhaul Focuses on Removing Annoyances
People should tempur their expectations as far as graphics go for year one. In my opinion, The Show has always been a beautiful game, but it seems like SDS is always more focused on gameplay, as well it should. The Show could be the most beautiful game in the world, but if it plays like crap, then it's all for naught. The first year on PS4 hardly saw any improvements to the graphics. Just be patient.

Re: MLB The Show 21 - Fielding Overhaul Focuses on Removing Annoyances
I really wish they would go through and fix pitching animations. Make it look like they are throwing with some velocity/intensity and not just lobbing the ball over, like Pro yakyuu 19. With that said, the new fielding animations look great.Last edited by Vercingetirex; 03-19-2021, 05:00 PM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 21 - Fielding Overhaul Focuses on Removing Annoyances
This has bugged me for years. 100mph fastballs float to the plate at what seems like <85mph. With the new ‘catcher to second’ animation/improvement, the ball will reach second from home about the same time it takes for a fastball to reach the plate from a pitch... unless they fix it!Comment

Re: MLB The Show 21 - Fielding Overhaul Focuses on Removing Annoyances
I agree, the pandemic shouldn’t be an excuse to not upgrade the grass or graphics.
Heck, even RBI baseball 21 has better, cleaner looking grass textures, and before I get attacked, I’m not saying that RBI baseball is a better game.
I also agree with the Pro Yaku Spirits 19 pitching motions comment. Pro Yaku Spirits 19 is miles ahead with their pitching motions/animations. In Pro Yaku Spirits the pitchers actually look like they are throwing the ball hard.
In The show the ball looks like its being lobbed.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 21 - Fielding Overhaul Focuses on Removing Annoyances
MLB 17 was the first wow for me (visual wise) on the PS4 console.
Playing 20 (and 17,18 and 19 as well BTW) on the PS5 now......holy mother of god!! It is beautiful!! I dreamed of a baseball game like this when I was 11 and playing Intellivision MLB Baseball and keeping stats in spiral notebooks.
People need to really get a grip on this whole graphics thing. I guess I am an old fart.Last edited by Armor and Sword; 03-19-2021, 07:40 PM.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: MLB The Show 21 - Fielding Overhaul Focuses on Removing Annoyances
I really enjoyed this Twitch Thursday. It explained alot about misplays on my part in the field, since I play it manually with no fielding aids. Especially with robbing HR's. I play with the Braves, so Acuna Jr. should be able to rob HRs.
I look forward to next week: Player Introduction??
Any advice for what to look for without having the fly ball landing indicator on? I watch the shadow but misjudge it often and the ball drops in front of my fielder.

While I agree that the default pitch speed is too slow, what the other guy was talking about is that in the Show the pitchers throw animation is kind of like playing catch in the back yard, there's no violence or aggression or pop in the pitchers arm.YouTube: MLB The Show 21 Atlanta Braves FranchiseComment
