Re: MLB The Show 21 Franchise Mode and March to October Details From Feature Premiere
I've been out of the loop in sports in general since athletes often like to promote their political views more than playing the games. Is this an actual rule now? Runner on second base in extra innings like it's some USAAA travel ball tournament?Comment

Just remember everyone, a good magician never reveals his secrets.
meaning they have never come out and told us every detail that was going to be in that year's game. we always have a surprise or two awaiting us upon loading up the game for the first time. no matter how big or small it may be..."Baseball is life, without Baseball life itself ceases to exist." - Ken SpragueComment

Re: MLB The Show 21 Franchise Mode and March to October Details From Feature Premiere
You know, I had already said that I don't think this game is for me this year. Maybe I am just trying to rationalize my addiction. I am so into the fictional rosters with Bacon and I have an Indians carry over that dates back to '14. Then add in all of the specialty franchises that I have running. I am very happy with where I am at with '20. But honestly this video won me over a little bit. I could see picking this up current gen to play a "realistic" franchise/rtts going forward. But I can say that I am getting pretty satisfied that a yearly pick up is no longer a certainty. In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

10 charI can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

If MLB is so worried about long extra inning games then just end games in ties. I’m glad that new rule can be toggled off, I really hate it!Comment

I certainly liked what I heard today. It is nice to hear that they have a plan going forward and I’m confident we will continue to see this develop over the next few years. I wish there were more resources devoted to franchise, but it is where things are at.
I’m a player of 162, so in order for folks like me to benefit from the upgrades, we need carryovers back. Until I know when this returns, I can’t start a long term franchise.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 21 Franchise Mode and March to October Details From Feature Premiere
Every year, I get nervous for the franchise stream because franchise is pretty much all I play.
I like the new UI. For the depth charts, I was hoping that we would be able to adjust playing time, similar to the way you can in OOTP. It looks cool, just was hoping for a little more in terms of functionality. Seeing future year progression projections has me intrigued. It makes me think progression was changed, but they didn't speak to it as overtly as I would expect.
To bounce off of progression, it doesn't seem like scouting was updated, which is an area in dire need of an update.
In theory, I love the updates to logic, but like others have said, the Lindor contract has me a little concerned. I am down with under the hood updates. They aren't flashy like the stadium creator, but I am all for them--as long as they actually work.
When I heard rotation logic and lineup logic mentioned in the MTO portion of the stream, I was a little confused. Were these areas improved for franchise too? If so, seems like a missed opportunity to explain how.
I'm happy with the changes, but I will be nervous until I see how much of a change these new logic tweaks make.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 21 Franchise Mode and March to October Details From Feature Premiere
Mixed bag for me. I like hearing they reworked some core logic to build on for the future of franchise. But until carryover saves are back, long term franchise saves aren't nearly as appealing (I'm firmly in the if you're going to sim 'em all just play OOTP camp). This means it's harder to take the long view, even if I try to be realistic about what can be done in a yearly cycle. Plus, until we see the AI can better handle roster construction and player management, my interest in franchise will be tepid. Controlling the MLB universe doesn't appeal to me and I don't want to babysit.
For MTO, I like the addition of minor league games, fast tracks, and accelerated development. We see breakout players make an impact every season and this could really capture that in a way more traditional progression can't. The changes to lineup/rotation logic are welcome, as they would get jumbled after every roster move and you couldn't change them before your next game. This also explains why this is exclusively mentioned for MTO -- it's not how the lineups are constructed (both modes) but when. Nice QoL change for MTO but not much impact, if any, in franchise. Unfortunately, I didn't hear anything about letting the user set the opening day roster which is what I was hoping more user control included, although more promotion/trade choices helps. And more variety in postseason scenarios is welcome... It was kind of a slog last year.Comment

It is not what we wanted to hear but as most of us know from prior next gen first year releases, some stuff will be left out due to it being the first year of development of NG consoles.* But the future of MLBTS going forward is going to be awesome with new next gen tech!*
Can't wait for 4/16 to see the beginning of this new journey for MLBTS on Next Gen.Last edited by Formula1Racing; 04-01-2021, 11:56 PM.Comment
