Is there anything that would prevent Microsoft from yanking the game in a month or two so you'd have to buy the game anyways?

I thought about that. But usually with Game Pass games, they stay for a while. Some have been on for years. I would hope that this would at least be accessible until The Show 22. But yeah, that is a valid concern.

This is good news for gamers. My only question with the game pass version is does this mean I can play it on PC or will it be console gamepass exclusive. If its the former... boy oh boy... Xbox you'll have another Gamepass ultimate user for sure!

Xbox and Cloud, but Cloud is coming to PC sometime this spring according to MS.

That still doesn't quite answer my question since Game pass is also on PC. It's just that not all games on Console Game pass made it to PC. Unless I'm understanding you wrong.

If it is possible to play The Show on PC this year it will be through the Cloud feature of GamePass. It won't be something that is downloadable in the GamePass Library for you to play locally on your PC since it isn't a PC game. You'll have to have GamePass Ultimate and stream the game via the Cloud to play it.

Thank you, that's exactly what I meant. I'm a PC player too, so that's why I'm at least excited about the Cloud feature since we don't have a dedicated PC version of The Show yet.

As long as MLB publishes the xbox copy, Sony has no say if it can be on Game Pass next year which I fully expect it to be as MS wants all major sports titles there day 1 on Game Pass soon enough

It isn't about what Sony can or can not say/do, in my opinion(which means nothing) its all about that first year getting it into as many hands as they can, so that they can follow up next year with making people buying it full price. Especially if they can convert people into buying the next gen version to get all the features it can give. It's a marketing strategy because you have to remember, its very beneficial to get as many individual sales as possible, over a flat fee that's been agreed upon.

Yea but how many Playstation 3’s and 4’s did mlb the show alone sell. I mean i know a bunch of us bought playstations over the year just for the show. I have the ps5 and the show preordered and dont own a xbox series x/s so not spending $400 plus to get the show free lol, but if this is the trend for gamepass (they also have outriders for free day 1 that just released) and xbox starts providing Multiple AAA titles a month , i will definitely get an xbox when they are easily available and might drop my loyalty to playstation these past 10 years. Also this is gonna kill physical disc sales this gen for places like gamestop.

Not many if you judge by the sales figures. They've been around the same number for many years now so its pretty negligible. I think you're overstating the Show's influence here and I say that as someone who bought a PS3 for the Show. I also don't think this will be a common trend for future years and don't think that gamepass can sustain what its doing , especially if they want to continue to get 3rd party games day 1 on their service, so there will likely be a raise in cost, which could hurt them. I also don't think physical goes away but even if it does, you'll still be able to buy games from places like Gamestop. I mean, PC gaming has been predominantly digital for over a decade now and you can still get codes from stores

Well, even though I have the XBOX/S (which I got by luck!) and I just got the XBOX-Live sub since I didn't have XB1, I am still buying the game.* The Xbox game pass is not for me because I really don't play any other games,* If I do, I play them on my PC. I am only going to play sports games on my XBOX/S due to most good sports games are on consoles like The Show...for now I guess.

But for people that exclusively play all types of* games on consoles, this is a GREAT deal!* Go for it!

GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 might be precedents to consider. They were the briefest stays I can think of, and each lasted about four months last year on Game Pass.

After the botched PS5 launch, I relented and got a Series X. I was really agonizing over missing The Show. As someone who isn't a fanboy of either, the timing to switch has worked out well.
I cannot believe what a phenomenal deal Gamepass is. Adding The Show is beyond wild... It's a good time to own an Xbox.

As a long time PS user, I couldn't sniff a PS5 and felt like I was "settling" for an XSX when I got lucky on a Christmas restock at Best Buy. Initially, I was very critical of Gamepass and it's cost for what I felt was a lackluster line-up of "older" games. I even thought about cancelling after my trial period.

A few months later, and I feel fortunate to have an Xbox as it's quickly becoming my console of choice. Gamepass has added EA Play, Bethesda, a litany of other titles and soon MLB The Show. WOW. SMH. I don't know how long The Show will be on Gamepass, but I'd guess long enough to see it go sale, which works for me.

Sorry for the long post. Sitting in a hotel room wide awake at 3am waiting to visit with my kids/granddaughter Sat and thought why not write a book on OS. Lol.

My fear is, does this de-incentivize Sony from investing in the Show? You made an excellent point about MLB publishing the XBox version. Didn't realize that was the case, but that points to MLB pulling a power play.

What if MLB decides to just buy out Sony San Diego and rename it MLB San Diego Studio or whatever.

Its more of a $15 rental. Gamepass doesn't give you the game forever and this title likely won't be on there for even the entire length of the season.

I'm more disappointed in Sony. Jim Ryan the head of Sony said he didn't believe in gamepass that it was unsustainable and then they pull this move. Yes I know that there are more factors with the MLB getting involved but still this looks bad for them.

No chance the game is pulled a month after release....This game will be there until 22 is released
