Re: "The Show goes next Gen" PS5 DEV April 8th

There is nothing wrong with the dirt, trust me when I say this the dirt, gravel or sand whatever u prefer calling it lol is very much improved.

MLB 21 PS5 Compare it to MLB 20 on a PS5 with 4ktv HDR and there's a huge difference to me.

This Thursday owners of next gen consoles hopefully will be able to see the comparison. After playing MLB 21 on PS5 even it wasn't the full gm hard for me to play 20 right now and 20 from ps4 pro to PS5 was a huge improvement better frame rate, lighting just smooth as butter, now take a MLB 21 made for next gen definitely a better looking game, you add the new physics, game play changes, robbing hrs, able to turn Heidi off if u want, the stadium creator, and not even talking about changes in franchise outside of those areas even rtts I never play, but video feeds, soundbites that's huge, to me if you were able to score a ps5 or xbox X and have a 4k tv with HDR etc there's no going back to old gen!!

It's one of those games u gotta see it in person, play it yourself to really get that game changing experience, videos don't give it justice and especially screen shots those are still shots.

The short time with it the game is beautiful!!

I remember couple years ago madden moved over to frostbite engine and u needed to have controller in your hand and play it and see and feel with your own eyes, well thats exactly the case here.

Are you sure we can’t import our 20 rosters into 21? I haven’t seen that confirmed, might have missed that. Will be a big disappointment if so....but it’s a long season and i’ll just have to rebuild it. I do have fun with the rosters like you. I’ll get it done.

I look at that photo of the dirt around 2nd. Is there supposed to be something wrong with it?

We knew there would have to be some changes with the PS5 on deck, the Xbox, etc. I just don’t get some of the obssession over the degree of dirt degregation, etc. Like you, the world doesn’t end and I’m gonna enjoy the crap out of this on the 15th. Even if I have to put some days of work into it before starting the season.

Completely agree with you about having the game in your hands. No screen shots/videos come close. I’m playing it on the PS5 and the jump from the PRO was obvious. Gotta be even better when we get 21 into the PS5 here at home. Gotta be. I’m playing on a Samsung 65 QLED and sure it’s going to be great.

Is the game perfect? Will it have it issues ?

Games not perfect no game is.
Of course it will have its issues they always do, it will need a few patches as they all did.

I just don't think people early understand or grasp what they did with fielding this year, those new catches is game changing and to have that on a new console 4k 60fps with all the other additions they might be small changes to some people but to me I can't go back and play 20 or anything before that.

If I was still on ps4 regular then yeah not going to notice as much difference, game play sure, but still not as smooth as ps5.

There's just to much positive changes for me to not play MLB 21 on either my PS5 or SERIES X.

I have a Samsung 65 QLED to. The PS5 controller and the 3d sound is another game changer.

this is exactly what I thought we'd get, one or two generic stadiums to start as a base and then you set the foul pole distances and centerfield distance but never in my wildest imagination did I think they'd let us start with nothing but a field of grass. by the way I hope that's playable too w/o adding 1 seat or asset. that would be fantastic, for my eccentric sensibilities lol

How come I can actually picture you playing on just the grass? Hopefully you can remove the mound too.

Exactly, guys need to understand what they gave us could have been so much more basic, this is definitely next gen stuff.

That's why guys need to keep an open mind if the stadium creator is this in depth what could they do with more time in other areas.

I mean really break down the stadium creator u have 1000 of pieces to choose from instead of 5 pieces. Not just 1 or 2 generic stadiums u have 30 or u can do 15 real and edit some minor league parks.

So imagine the future of classic rosters u will have rosters might take some time but doable , then u can replicate old parks, so imagine LEAGUE ALIGNMENT back to whatever Era to go either your classic roster and stadiums.

The possibilities are ENDLESS going forward.

                  With rebranding
                  Create or edit stadium
                  Creating players

You got college parks u can create, team and players.

Say you wanna create your sons little league teams and stadiums. Logos, colors, stadiums very much possible.

Say u wanna create childhood memories of pee wee, t ball, high school Teams, colors, logos etc you could now - ages on players are 18 but my point is so many possibilities u can take 1 step further now.

No dev team knocks it out of the park in a yearly cycle the changes come in small pieces. If any of you learned anything from SDS is that w h enough they add a big feature they want it done right or not at all it might take a couple years but franchise it getting attention might not be at the pace everyone wants but there building onto these small changes this year.

By no means am I defending them, I don't play offline I am only interested in league play, and still pissed that online franchise was taken away and what custom leagues are is nothing like we once had.

There's been 0 news , no advertising, no stream about it at all so I'm probably going to be highly disappointed another season, but even after all of that I can see the strides they did make even without y2y saves, no online franchise back yet, the fielding overhaul is huge the create a stadium which ill never use but something that was asked for 10 years finally was added.

More high resolution scans, stadiums, grass, dirt with 1000k animations for me its a step in right direction.

The few things that were added are baby steps and some long term fans and new are expecting LEAPS. SDS has never operated like that then, now or maybe not even in the future.

Another note is im a roster editing fool and years of exporting and importing no longer available, yes it sucjs but we all have gotten spoiled with features yes we're game changing, but weren't available to us years ago and we managed it just fine. We just half to go back and do things old skool or from scratch like we did years ago.

I remember years ago a certain firefighter that set for hours building a roster player by player that took hours, days and weeks to get out to our community here at OS.

Does it suck that a easier method gotten taken away? Sure it does but not the end of the world or gaming, we dust ourselves off and find another method.
Wasn't trying to "get into it", was just saying you were talking up a big game in the franchise thread saying we would all surprised, we'd see "I'm sold" comments left and right, and then we got told the only changes were a GUI update and some logic tweaks and nothing more.

Anyone who acts like SCEA did a good job with franchise mode this year is naive or just defending them for some odd reason. We can all love the game and still admit it has weaknesses.

This.. franchise is in no way more immersive than before.. still feels like I’m playing in a bubble as my team. The league around me doesn’t feel alive. Honestly that’s where I miss the old newspaper. I loved reading the articles about the other games in the league, they were also so well written.

Also not sold on the new “logic” Lindor asking for 22m per season... sorry perhaps if this was the market 5 years ago maybe..

Some of the trades were also very suspect.. 2 journeymen older relievers traded for a 30year old above average outfielder... sorry but not buying the “logic”

People can call it awesome and that’s fine, they will also say that those who complain will still buy and that has some truth to it.. but remember they are the only game in town and people who love baseball have no choice.
