I don’t want to see it in the playoffs though
I'm fine with base ball evolving.
but this extra inning affair is devolving
when WAR came to town, I joined the movement.
likewise, I enjoy launch angles, exit velocity, spin rate and pop times
I'm down with infield shifts, instant replay challenges, the one game wild card play-in
and the Cleveland Baseball Club search for a new name

    but this goes too far

Is the rule only for the regular season?

How can a timed, set round boxing match go “too long” lol...

Yeah . . . on one hand, I want my franchise to mimic real life as much as possible (in terms of rules, etc.) . . . on the other hand, especially with PS5s near impossible to find anyway, half tempted to go back to MLB 19 before any of the new nonsense - runner on 2nd, 3-batter limit, 26-man roster - was a thing.

I have even started to re name my franchise save file "My World" just to remind me of that every time I load my game. As somebody who has struggled with re starting and stuff the past year or two it helps to remember that. Bacon's Fictional Rosters have been a Blessing for that.

On topic. I am in no rush to pick up this years game. But when/if I do I will not be using this rule.

Touché, good point, should have gone with when the pace of the boxing match is perceived as too boring and not too long. Good catch. But I’m definitely in the fire manfred crowd. I think manfred is too corporate and has no interest in baseball. He seems to want the money to drive the game instead of the game drive the money. What didn’t meet our quarterly target, need a rule change.

Oh I agree. Manfred is a terrible commissioner. He needs to go before he changes the game even worse..

next up for Manferd to shorten games:
after a team hits 2 homeruns in a game, all homeruns after that are outs.
you still get the runs from any homeruns over the HR limit, but you also get penalized with an out

also, since a pitch clock to speed up pace is viewed as bad by traditionalists,
now pitchers will wear armbands that give electrotherapy shocks if the ball is held longer than 10 seconds.
except Dodger pitchers. they get a neckband in lieu of the armband lol

I honestly wish they would do that for Yankees and Red Sox doing their batter's box routines. I remember back in the day watching Roy Halladay get impatient with those two teams. It happens still sometimes. Like, guys, if the pitcher is getting impatient, you're taking to long.

I was watching MLB Network and Buck Showalter and John Smoltz were talking about that. The batters are the ones that need to speed up, not the pitchers. Smoltz brought up a decent idea if you have to do something....each manager gets 3 timeouts (mound visits) per game. So if you remove a pitcher mid inning, you burn a timeout. Extra innings, each manager gets one more timeout or something. It would make managers save their timeouts for the later innings. It will have a manager have a decision if they want to send their pitcher out for one hitter and burn a timeout or have a new pitcher start fresh. You could eliminate the 3 batter minimum rule by doing this.
