I personally did not use SOTS so I am not impacted directly but it is a cheap shot not telling everyone earlier and I feel bad for everyone that is impacted. It stinks.

Re: Sounds of the show 21
Whether you used SOTS or not, you have to admit this is a pretty slimy move from SDS. They knew people would be upset about this and it would lose them some sales, so they chose to ‘hide it’. Days before launch is a bit late to inform the community that a longtime feature that a lot of players enjoyed is suddenly gone. They know what their doing finally letting it out now stashed in the F&Q in the website. Many people probably won’t see it on there and will go into the game and just find it gone once SDS already has the money.
Pretty disappointing they went about it this way. They definitely could’ve softened the blow a bit by being transparent with us earlier that it was removed.
Maybe this is a hot take, but even though people like to bash EA, with the way NG Madden plays and if they do follow up their fix Madden franchise updates throughout M21’s cycle with some heat on Madden 22, SDS may be about to fall below EA.
That said, this was a very slimy approach as you said. This was not news that was accidentally left out. They never mentioned it before and only changed the FAQ in secret once some conversation was had about the feature. It's easier for their PR team to monitor the conversations here and see we check the FAQ then go and change it knowing we'll see the change versus them doing nothing and then being asked about it and having to make the answer a bit more public than simply changing the FAQ.
I forget how many years ago it was, 3 or 4 at least, when I began saying on this forum that SDS was changing and I wasn't going to be an annual buyer anymore because their priorities were not what they once were. I caught a little heat, not surprisingly because the game still played great and the direction change wasn't quite as noticeable, but I think it is safe to say at this point, half a decade later, my gut was unfortunately right. SCS has changed and not for the better for the crowd we fall into here. They don't spend the same amount of time on the authenticity and smaller details and features like they once did. Franchise mode has taken a backseat to the rest of the game and it was never more clear than this year and this year many finally woke up to the fact.
The game still plays amazingly well on the field. It's the rest of the game that is struggling, in my opinion. Great on field gameplay cannot carry a game for me. I need modes and features that keep me engaged, keep my brain working, and The Show doesn't cater towards that as much at the moment. APF 2k8 plays the best game of football of all time, imo, but it has no franchise mode for my brain to get entertainment from. The Show has top tier baseball gameplay, but it's repetitive presentation and shallow franchise mode have me in a position where I don't see a reason to buy the game annually anymore.

Re: Sounds of the show 21
Could it have something to do with the PS5s 3D audio?
This does suck. It was great to have different presentation packages, even though they went from 3 to 2 recently.

Re: Sounds of the show 21
Wasn’t it a similar late announcement when they removed season mode? Or maybe I’m thinking of a different feature. Regardless their transparency on these type of things leaves a lot to be desired (in terms of waiting until the last minute and not giving any rationale for the decision)"Life is like baseball, it's the number of times you arrive home safely that counts"Comment

Wow this kind of took the wind out of my sail. I've been spending a good amount of time the past few weeks to build a playlist of songs to add to the jukebox as well as making sure I had the songs for the Padres ready to do....but now here we are.Comment

Re: Sounds of the show 21
I pre-ordered the game, so this is a blow. I used SOTS every year.
After the franchise stream left me nervous, it really is looking like the only big change for the PS5/XSX is Stadium Creator.
Kind of feeling hollow about this year's release now.Comment

A lot of folks would be disappointed but not angry if they'd just been honest about it.Check out my updated 2017 blog on building a high school football video game:

Re: Sounds of the show 21
This should be a hollow feeling to everyone. Like how can you justify releasing this game by being sneaky about removing features and not answering anyone’s questions about future plans when it comes to Y2y saves. This is mind boggling, SDS should be ashamed of themselves for how they’ve been handling this release. Won’t be getting my money this year.

Re: Sounds of the show 21
Did SOTS run from a USB? I have used custom music in the past but I thought that the music all had to be copied to the PS4 internal drive to be usable.
I don't believe the PS5 allows any playback of media from anything other than usb drives. If that is true then I can understand it being missing from the PS5. Can't imagine that sds wants to implement a feature that requires you to leave a USB drive plugged in so that it can constantly access it during gameplay.Comment

MLB 20 running on the PS5 let's you import music files similar to the PS4 and I assume it saves elsewhere in The Show save files. I'm still playing my Playlist and I don't have the USB still plugged in.
I'm still keeping my preorder because I'm still excited for the changes to RTTS and create a stadium, but definitely a bad move by SDS to not be more transparent about this. It sucks because I've gone through and re-download all my favorite songs from The Show since 06. So much for that effort.R.I.P. Rory Markas, Nick Adenhart and Tyler Skaggs

Re: Sounds of the show 21
That would be your clear answer as to why there's no SOTS on Nexgen.
It's not a hardware issue. At least not for PS5, as you can upload music for Show 20 on PS5 no problem.
So there is literally almost no reason full SOTS shouldn't be on PS5, unless they completely changed the nexgen engine...or the fact MLB wanted the game the same across PS5, XSS, and XSX, and Microsoft would not allow custom music.
The best thing SDS could do is just admit MLB required the game to be the same across all platforms(Albiet PS4 was excluded, thankfully), and what may or may not be allowed anymore.Comment
