Re: MLB The Show 21 Franchise Discussion Thread

We are starting to come around after trading for LHP David Peterson from the Mets. Ironically his first game with us he pitches a 1 run, 8 inning gem as we beat the Mets, 2-1.

Cubs are tearing it up though, so it's going to be a long climb up.

I thought my franchise from MLB 20 was lost... I just found it! I might have to just pick up up where I left off.

If I do, I'm sure you all won't mind me posting my franchise updates, or rather continuing them (from MLB 20) here. I'm still shocked I found my franchise save from last year. I thought it was long gone.

          Cardinals drop series to Brewers

The Cardinals dropped their 2nd straight series, this time to divisional foe the Brewers. The Cardinals (4-5) are now a game below .500 and 4 games out of first place.

The Cardinals bats struggled this entire series as they just couldn't get hits nor score runs. Pitching was ok, but the offense didn't follow suit.

The lone bright spot offensively was Paul Goldschmidt extending his hit streak to 9 straight games as he has recorded a hit in every game thus far in the season.

The Cardinals will remain at home and host the Nationals for a 3 game series starting Monday night.

Jack Flaherty to be activated Thursday

The Cardinals will activate ace Jack Flaherty on Thursday before the team travels to Philadelphia for a 3 game weekend series with the Phillies. Flaherty is expected to start Sunday's series finale of that series.

The pitching has been the key keeping the club in games enough to squeak by wins.

some bright spots in the lineup are Kevin Newman hitting .343 and Gregory Polanco with 5 Homeruns. Everyone else though are all between .200 and .250. Hopefully the bats can warm up a little bit with the weather changing.

On the pitching side Steven Brault has been an ace so far with a 2.77 ERA along with Chad Kuhl posting a 2.12 ERA. Mitch Keller has been solid, with Tyler Alexander and JT Brubaker struggling. Might look to move cahill back into the rotation or call someone up.

The bulpen has been rock solid for us, with guys like Feliz, Crick, Buttrey, and Rodriguez carry the load. Richard Rodriguez has been perfect on saves so far going 11-11.

            Notes:
Michael Perez went down with a Torn calf putting him on the shelf for 2-3 months

Called up John Ryan Murphy to be the backup

April 20th: San Francisco Giants (10-6) vs Philadelphia Phillies (7-10)

Philadelphia and San Francisco were in a pitchers duel till the 7th when Philly scored 2 off of an Alec Bohm double. Harper and Hoskins were a combine 0 for 8 and yet Philadelphia still managed to find a way to win. After losing 9 of 10 and 10 of 15 to start the season, The Phillies have won 3 straight and look for the sweep tomorrow. First pitch is 1:05pm, Johnny Cueto vs Zach Efflin.

April 23rd Philadelphia Phillies (9-10) vs Colorado Rockies (10-10)

Philadelphia came in riding a 4 game winning streak, sweeping San Francisco and looked to do the same to their next NL West opponent, Colorado Rockies. The action began in the 5th with struggling Jean Segura and his .182 avg coming alive. A double to center and a steal of 3rd brought Alec Bohm to the plate who then quickly doubled to right, scoring Segura. Colorado attempted to make it interesting in the 6th, after Vince Velasquez intentionally walked Trevor Story to load the bases on 2 outs. Joe Girardi brought in reliever Brandon Kintzler and Rockies first basemen Josh Fuentes quickly flied out to center leaving Philadelphia's lead intact. Colorado brought in Mychal Givens in the 7th and after 2 pitches Realmuto had a triple and Segura hit a homerun (2) making it 3-0.
Didi Gregorious added his own homerun and Robert Osuna came in to close the game, 3 up, 3 down and Philly won 4-0.

Royals Take 2 Of 3 From Rangers To Open 2021

Opening Day would be a 5-2 Royals victory on the back of 2 Perez solo HR’s, a Santana 2 run HR, and a Merrifield RBI hit, all within the first 3 innings. Brady Singer went 6 innings allowing just 3 hits and 1 run before turning it over to the bullpen. Texas would try to claw back with a run in the 7th and 8th, but it was too little too late.

                  Game 2:
KC would drop this one 4-2, thanks to a 2 run HR from Calhoun in the 4th and Robertson coughing up 2 more runs in the 6th. Mike Minor put in a solid 5 innings of 2 run ball in his season debut. We struggled all game to solve Texas’s Kohei Arihara who held us to 2 runs over 7.1 IP.

                  Game 3:
We got out of first series with a win with a 3-2 victory in the finale. This was a small ball win, with a Soler RBI double, a Nicky Lopez sac fly RBI, and a Merrifield bloop single accounting for all of our runs. Texas would be shutout until the 8th, when a Nick Solak 2 run HR off Josh Staumont put them on the board.

                  Next up:
We head to Cleveland for a 2 game set sitting at 2-1 to face an 0-3 Indians team. After that, it’s off to Chicago to take on the White Sox.

                  News:
Wade Davis Out 2-3 Months With Fractured Arm
The Wade Davis redemption tour has hit a pause almost as soon as it began. Davis made his Royals return on opening day but only lasted a few pitches. Brad Brach was recalled to replace him. Unfortunately, Davis is the kind of player who may not be guaranteed an MLB spot when he returns.

Royals Option 1B Ryan McBroom To AAA, Recall 1B Ryan O’Hearn
McBroom didn’t see any action over the first 3 games but will already head to the minors. McBroom is in a tough spot with starter Carlos Santana’s strength also being hitting left handed pitching. The lefty O’Hearn will join KC as the go to bat off the bench.

Quick question for you fellow 'chisers. Is it worth the purchase on the ps4? I know, waiting on rosters and all, but overall has enough been tweaked to warrant it??

                        I’m going to say yes.

The changes to contract logic alone is worth it. Plus adding the fact the cpu will sign free agents during the season and rosters expanded to 93 are also big pluses in my opinion

Aww man, I can't wait for the Roster Vault bug to get patched so I can start my White Sox Franchise. This thread is always so much fun to read and keep up with. I think I'm going to try to partake in it and keep up with updates. I know I'd enjoy the whole experience a lot more.

rating question. What would be a good fair rating for Ryan Weathers? He's a 58 in my franchise and that is not good for what he's shown so far haha. I want to bump him up.

                              Weird question.

I keep track of my team stats on a spreadsheet. Just my team stats so I can see my BABIP, BA. Also track like HR/AB, Home BA, Away BA, runs per game and stuff like that. Does anyone know of a IOS app that I can track box scores and keep player stats on there?

Finally played my first game after several days of tweaking rosters. Lost the season opener to the Phillies, 4-3. Soroka only worked four innings as the Phillies worked his pitch count.

But if this is how the game is going to play this year, then I hope they don't patch a thing gameplay wise. Nearly perfect.
