        **** is just flat broken.
I'm not entirely sure i understand what you mean when refer to things you have done not being credited to you loadout.

All loadouts are, is a "create your own archetype."

The loadouts give you stat boost in some areas, and stat take away in others. It's the exact same thing you have had for 2 years, but you can change your archetype by the game, or leave it alone.

        I like that personally.

Now, I will say that through playing I earned more badge things to add to loadouts. They give me an opportunity to boost power, but lose fielding. I put that one in my DH loadout, because I don't need fielding. My power went from 60-64.

I was annoyed at first, just like I was when archetypes were introduced. I got over this change much faster, because I can change stuff every game if I want to, or leave it alone.

The developers are really good about "giving stuff," to players. I earned a bunch of stuff to use without even noticing. I got a card pack that had all cards worth 25k+. I chose Ripken Jr, cashed it in for 26k. I can now grab a bat, etc.

I've never purchased stuff with my own money, because they dole stuff out all the time.

I can see where some people are upset. I guess I just look at it like I can change my archetype whenever I want.

For folks complaining about having to start a 2 way player, I think they gave me the option to nix that b4 I even played my first game. If it wasn't that quick, it was certainly faster than being forced out of my position for a 2 week "trial" like past years.

Hope not everybody gets to pissed before really giving it a go. It took me about an hour of messing with the badges to find loadouts that really worked for 2hat I was trying to do.

the loadouts have programs that you need to complete to earn upgrades. Take for example the Speed loadout you need to steal bases to advance your loadouts program. you have repeatable and one time programs. repeatable are 24 plate apperances and 3 stolen bases. So every 24 at bats you gain 2 points to program experience and every 3 steals you gain 3.

But the game doesn't actually give you credit for these things properly.
Then if you are a 2 way player and you choose to continue to next game instead of returning to main screen you are suppose to be able to change loadouts. But when you switch to pitcher loadout and enter game you will see you still have your hitter loadout in game, so you get zero credit for any of your pitching stats towards your pitching loadout programs.

So the only way to truly progress your character right now is to by perks in the marketplace. Since you can't actually progress your programs to earn the perks.

Its hard to give it a go and spend money just to see if you like it or not. Side note: Can I have a 6'1 CF and 6'5" 1B? Can I edit the way someone looks for each position?

MLB The Show novice here, are ratings in the game on a 100-point scale? And your player can't advance past 50 by just playing the actual mode and improving there? That sounds insane and quite disheartening.

Yeah, I think Loadouts aren't really too big a problem much like the two-way thing as a tutorial isn't a massive problem in the grand scheme of things. I think there's plenty to not like about the structure of RttS if you want to find faults, but Loadouts feels like a QOL improvement once you get the hang of it.

Doesn't mean you have to agree, but I think there's easier things to point to as issues than the new and shiny thing like Loadouts that maybe gets attention for being new and different, but really isn't what would cause the hang up for people in the end all on its own. Maybe you don't think the leveling system is fair or takes too long etc. is what I mean as the issue more than the Loadouts themselves in this one case.

Or at least thankful that when they DD'd franchise, they at least made it a separate mode (Mto) and didn't get rid of franchise while doing it

It’s super upsetting. Idk what they were thinking.

I’m not even going to touch this mode. I’ll get my RTTS fix through a created player in franchise.

The load times on PS5 make this doable (wasn’t able to get through a full week on PS4 because you have to go in and out of the menus every game, took forever)

Does anyone have a good manual progression system?

Annoyed by the fact that when starting a new save file with a different pitcher type I don't get prompted to select my pitches and are stuck with what I selected the first time around.

Re: MLB21 RTTS Mode Gutted by SDS

I decided that if I was going to keep commenting on RTTS that I need to experience it first hand.

                            1. I created my ballplayer. Set up his appearance and everything and equipped the equipment I had. Because I have been mostly playing DDI had done the Jackie Robinson conquest map which gives some good diamond equipment.

                            2. I went into the loadout and chose Sparkplug (plus contact) archetype. It shows on the Archetype which positions that archetype is suited for. I am not sure but this may limit the choice you have in DD or RTTS on positions. I decided to be a high contact CF.

                            3. Why might you want to choose a team instead of be drafted? I am a Cardinals fan so of course I was drafted by the Cubs.

                            4. Went through the two way player video and had a discussion with my coach. Every chance I had to say that I wanted to only be a position player I chose that option. I only pitched a single game (5 innings I think).

                            5. This brought up the first issue that I seemed to have. Before a game it tells you what you will be doing that game Pitch, CF, DH, Pinch Hit and allow you to choose a loadout. This did not seem to work for me. In early games I hit with a pitching loadout and pitched with a hitting loadout.

                            6. Once the pitching experiment was done the game started playing like RTTS from last year. Increases for performing well, challenges you can accept, training on off days (including mini-games). I think that the teammate relationships are still there because I see the icons as I play but I have not had any interaction in the clubhouse yet.

                            7. My missions for my archetype have been progressing. I am 28 points down the Sparkplug exp line. At 100 I get to choose the next level of sparkplug archetype. There are three options. Each further enhances my contact and one other area (power, speed or fielding).

                            8. I have seen absolutely nothing that forces you to play DD at all. The only benefit to doing so would be to play the JR Conquest map for good free equipment.

                            9. It is too soon to tell how much progression may have been crippled to push people to the marketplace. We know that base attributes only go so high through play. It seems like the biggest boost will come from the Archetype card, which is earned by playing and can't be bought. The perk cards and equipment will most likely need to be purchased to get the best ones.

Overall, not as bad as I thought it might be, at least so far but I am still not a fan of the changes. The loss of year to year saves will keep me from investing much time in the mode. I still miss the good ole days when you earned training points based on how you played and were allowed to put them wherever you wanted. The fact that you can't have multiple players with different names and looks kind of sucks too.

The system wouldn't be so bad if the loadouts, equipment, and progression weren't all bugged right now.

I can't progress my loadouts without having to quit to the clubhouse after every game. Oh and when you change the loadout it messes up most of your gear causing you to have to edit your player every time to even look at a loadout.

I gave up on RttS for now until the loadout issues are fixed. I have a pitcher and a hitter one for a reason, but right now there's no point in playing a full series as you don't get any progress to either after the first game.

I bought the game for the Create a Stadium but RTTS is my favorite mode. I'll probably just go back to 2017 for my hitter's career.

I'll use the created stadiums in franchise but this is pretty awful what SDS did to RTTS.
