MLB21 RTTS Mode Gutted by SDS

Has anyone found out why you are not able to change the default sliders without losing XP and such? Is that related to "ballplayer" being available in DD?

You can’t do it in franchise mode either.

So much for being able to play “your” way and earn.

I loved every MLB The show dating back to 15+ years ago and 99% of the time I only play RTTS.

This one feels like a lame duck.

The new menus are awful. The in-between your next appearance is so ugly boring and slow.

It's been the same game for 5+ years now.

My attributes are capped at 50 and after almost 2 years in the minors I'm only 69 overall.

I could be wrong but I am almost willing to bet that your Archetype missions are bugged like so many others which is why the advancement is so slow.

The only reason I can't say that for sure is because my archetype missions are bugged so I stopped playing because that cripples the player too much.

It is due to the fact that DD progression to earn rewards is based entirely on XP now. That was not the case last year.

So to stop people from setting all the sliders to the easiest settings so that they could earn massive XP playing the other modes they locked them.

I am not a fan of the decision but that is why it is there.

Well for the first time my SP archetypes increased this morning. Got two who games before i had to quit and got credited for 17 K's and all my IP. Was absolutely SHOCKED that I saw a reward for the archetype after i quit game 1.

Didn't get anything for hitting though.

I think I'll wait to dive into RTTS until it gets debugged.

I hope in the future they'll at least bring back some of what made RTTS enjoyable in previous versions of the game.

Does anyone know if there is an ‘issue’ applying equipment to our Ballplayer in RttS?

Whenever I go in to try and change my bat I have the ‘option’ to select my bag when I am highlighting that option but pressing ‘x’ doesn’t do anything? I can’t actually get in to the list to choose the bat I want?

Is there anyway to delete your "My Ballplayer" and start again? My archetype progression has stopped, but I'm not that far into my first season that I wouldn't mind starting over. However, the Ballplayer is outside the RTTS mode so it's just the same guy, stuck at the same spot, if I restart.

I don't think so. You can start a new save but it will start with the same ballplayer.

But the mode and progression is bugged right now so there is no guarantee that if you started over that you would not be back in the same situation tomorrow.

Exactly, we are now forced to just 1 player. In previous years we could have fun and make different players for different saves which is now impossible

The introduction of loadouts makes rtts more complicated than it should be. In the past I've always created a separate SP and 1st baseman. And when I’m in the mood I'll create a catcher. So, that's 3 separate players with different names, body types and origins. I sure didn't ask for a 2 way player for this mode. I'm utterly perplexed.

I'd make every position twice over and a bunch of pitchers. All different, looks and all. I'm utterly ticked off.

In its current state, this game is hot garbage. Server instability is ridiculous and although you can still play RTTS when they go down, you can't change anything and nothing gets tracked.

My progression for sparkplug is stuck at 6/8 PA and my pitching is showing 0 innings even though I am 3-0 with 2 complete games. The progression is so broke, it isnt even worth playing.

The fact that you can't make multiple brand new guys is pretty much a deal breaker for this mode also. I would typically make 4 rtts player, IF, OF, SP, and CP. All different looks, names, and teams. With that gone, this mode isn't as flexible or fun.

I'm flabbergasted that this was thought a good idea by SDS. A very real part of the fun of RTTS is "rerolling your character" and "starting a new quest," to use D&D terms.

It's difficult not to view this move as an overt attempt to funnel everything towards DD, regardless of all the "play your way" messaging they're spinning.

The real smarmy part of all this -- the brilliant business aspect, that is -- is that DD as a mode has become more accessible and less predatory in recent years. HOWEVER, they still are making a killing on it, and funneling more users to that mode will invariably create more microtransactions.

SO, they are having their cake and eating it too.

Hopefully the #fixmaddenfranchise-like firestorm over RTTS will force them to reevaluate their dream of "interconnectivity among modes."
