Hitting when using a camera behind the pitcher also gives you the added advantage of knowing exactly which pitch is about to be thrown, considering the pitchers finger positioning is easily visible when he's holding the ball in his glove.
Yeah it takes a little adjustment but I've been doing it for years now. I love the inversion of feeling the full broadcast all game.

Same I've been hitting on HOF the last several years, I dropped it down to All Star last night.

This is good news, IMO. I thought the game was a little too heavy on offense last year out of the box.

I'm still catching up to the default timing but not really k'ing too much as I am just weak contact, lotta easy out dribblers. at this point I'd kill to hear DeRo and his tiresome awful worm-burners lol

I've found that pitches have alot more movement this year. 2 seam FB is killing me and the knucklecurve is a nightmare. I love it tho, in prior years hitting was too easy

Yes..I figured out why I was late on so many pitches when I felt I was right on them. If I recall, SDS said they changed the timing. I had to bump the timing to 5 and now all is good again, although hitting in much more challenging this year especially at higher pitch speeds, which is great.

Too bad SDS..putting all its focus on Xbox.. has really **** its pants this year on a great game.

In my RTTS I was ripping the ball apart, and went from Vet to hall of fame hitting in no time. Then, I couldn't hit a darn thing. Went on a 0-20 slump.

I would normally stop on vet+, but now I can't at the risk of no xp or stubs. I basically was shell shocked, chased everything, struck out in 8 straight games at least once. I went as far as going back to rookie, and starting from scratch. Build up my confidence, see the ball better, and gradually work my way back to vet.

Once I get all the perks and equipment I need, I'll go to vet+ and leave it there.

Yeah since the baseball doesn't look like a softball anymore timing is a little off but as you play you get used to the difference and it come back to you.

And I bounce back and forth between fish eye camera and MLB 15. I’ve played this game as long as I can remember and I can just tell you, the hitting is different. I’ve never struck out that many times in a game, ever.

I have always used fish eye and MLB '15 batting cameras in previous iterations, but in '21 I also noticed the timing was different as I wasn't able to discern balls and strikes fast enough. I changed it to a custom camera angle yesterday starting with MLB '16 as a base, raised the camera to the highest height, zoomed out a smidge and I'm hitting better now. Try it out.

MLB 16 is my go to camera so I’m going to try to customize and see if I get better results.

Never thought of customizing a camera.[emoji106]

I use zone when hitting and have played on HOF the last few years. I couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn on HOF with ‘21. I have swallowed my pride and dropped down to All-Star and I’m hitting like I have in years past. Loving the challenge though! Once I play more, hopefully I can improve and creep back on to HOF.

I may end up just moving back down to All-Star. I really don’t want to as I’ve hit on Hall of Fame for years and years. But I’m glad to see it’s not just me.

I’m curious what the Diamond Dynast crowd will say about the timing, honesty. That’s what always dictates what does and does not get addressed. If that crowd complains that they can’t time the ball, SDS will change it. Mark my words.

I'm definitely noticing the strikeouts this year, and it's a welcomed addition for me. The timing window is smaller and off speed pitches have a considerable amount of break this year.

In past games, I struggled to strike out enough. This year I'm striking out between 7-10 times a game which is line with the real life average.

That’s the one thing that I am trying to tell myself, that strikeouts are up around the league. And in years past it seems that SDS has gotten some things right about trends in baseball. For example, the last couple versions of the game I (along with many community members here), said there were, “too many,” home runs. Well, the last couple seasons in real life has seen record numbers of homers. So perhaps The Show is ahead of the curve in this regard. At the same time, maybe they’re not. Ha.
