My little brother is this game’s target audience

Not trying to hate on him obviously, but he is a poster child for this game’s audience. He likes the simplicity and hand-holding of MTO, and isn’t even aware of the franchise community. He thinks I’m a unicorn for spending hundreds of hours on my franchise.

I am many things, but I am no unicorn!

little brothers are the worst. right up there with big sisters, homework, used car salesmen, spinach & all things L.A.
I'm no unicorn either, I prefer to think of myself as half leprechaun, half chupacabra
      a leprecabra.

but we gotta admit, when it comes to franchise guys versus DD, M2O, or even RTTS,
there's a ****tonne more of them than there are of us.
we just gotta keep on keeping on until it's all gone.

We’re fighting an uphill battle numbers wise but this community has gone on for so long. Just look right here on OS at how much the franchise community means. Then again, OS is not TikTok.

I don’t understand where this mentality comes from to want nothing but action and speed the games up. Even as a kid I loved playing full 9 inning games and the full atmosphere of every type of game. That’s the beauty of Baseball, sometimes it’s a relaxed atmosphere, sometimes it’s tense, sometimes it’s routine and sometimes it’s crazy.

But kids and even adults these days just want nothing but action lol. Nothing wrong with that but as a more traditional baseball fan I fear that The Show is going to start being more arcade like.

Crazy how people have different preferences and opinions, huh? Wack.

Your little brother is only part of their target audience if he has access to your moms credit card.

Haha! I should mention he’s 20. While I don’t approve of his The Show habits, he IS fiscally responsible.

My nephew loves sports games but has no idea what franchise mode is. He loves the customization with skins and micro transaction stuff.

I get where your brother is coming from in some regards, but I'm not sure why SDS can't just have the options in franchise for people to play it that way while adding features to the mode that benefit all.

I already no longer play all 162 games anymore, I play thr first game of each series, pitch by pitch, but after that I sim the remainder games playing them if one of the critical moments pops up prompting me to join in. In a way, I play like your brother, but I play that way to get further into franchise mode so that I can be a GM over a longer period of time. I can see my draft picks pan out or not. I can see their entire careers. I can see my team rise and fall through the years. I can see the league change year over year.

I don't play that way to be action action action, I play that way to have a GM experience over many years.

A little time looking outside of OS might not be a bad idea sometimes too though. Helps to get a different perspective sometimes.

There’s room for all different play styles. Now, whether or not the devs do enough to touch each of those groups is debatable (and we know how that would go here, haha) but I’m all for the options being there for people to play as they choose.

If you really want a sobering experience, then spend ten minutes scrolling through all the created stadiums. Gives you perspective on the game's consumer base. Here I am complaining about astroturf and base cut-outs for classic stadiums, only to flip through screenshot after screenshot of floating dinosaurs, hot air ballons filling the sky and alien spaceships in the background.
