The devs may not spend much time here, but I know they still have contact with some of the people in the OS community.

For better or worst the Twitch and YouTube community is much larger and that is where a much larger percentage of the gaming community is now.

My guess is they intentionally leave out most of the MTO features in Franchise because MTO rewards Team Affinity, which is tied to DD. As w/ everything else in the game now, MTO is just another way to improve their chances of luring the younger crowd and long-time Franchise players into DD.

I don't play that way to be action action action, I play that way to have a GM experience over many years.
This is exactly the way I've always played Franchise. Not just b/c I want to be a GM over a longer period of time and see my prospects/decisions pan out -- which is the main reason -- but also b/c I don't want to have inflated stats due to user advantages over the CPU.

Playing the first game of each series and simming the remaining games allows you to get farther along in your Franchise, keep your teams stats and record more balanced and realistic, you still get to pitch a game w/ every guy in your rotation eventually and still get to face different pitchers from each team you play multiple times per year in your division. Sometimes, I'll make an exception if there's a pitcher I really enjoy playing as so I'll play more games when he's starting.

It's a prefect balance of progressing longer into a Franchise as a GM and still getting 50+ games per season to play as your players.

can’t blame the kids. I remember myself as a kid playing football game. My playbook was pretty easy to apply :

        1st down : Hail Mary
2nd down: Hail Mary or Long Pass to upset the defense
        3rd down: Hail Mary
4th down: Hail Mary or Long Pass if in Red Zone

Right there with you. This is pretty close to the way I play as well. I want to see how my moves pan out. But by no means do I want an MTO experience. Franchise is closer to a sandbox which works for me

You should check out the shows Reddit page. There are some franchise guys there but it’s mainly DD people. There’s a reason DD gets most of the effort.

I agree with all of you guys. On top of all the roster management I do - and not to mention a job - there’s no way I could play all 162 and hope to get more than a year into my franchise. That’s even with Y2Y SAVES.

Just like you all mentioned, my way is essentially a game a series. Exceptions are made if it’s a very important series, rivalry series, or interleague series where I won’t see that opponent again. Or sometimes just because of a cool park.

It's not impossible for game developers to make different game modes to appease ALL of their customers. They should try it sometime.

Re: My little brother is this game’s target audience

The way I play now as I've gotten older is I play the first 5 games to get a feel for my starting rotation and lineup and then I play 1 and sim 5 and continue this alternating playing as each starting pitcher.

So for example after the first 5 games i play at the beginning of the season, I will play my #1 starter, then sim 5 games, play my #2 starter, sim 5 games, play my #3, etc. until I finish playing the 5th starter and then repeat until the end of the year and then if I make playoffs, I play it all.

This way really feels the best for me if you don't have the time to play a full season. You play a decent amount of games using your full rotation when you play and you also finish a season pretty quickly.

That’s the beauty of Baseball, sometimes it’s a relaxed atmosphere, sometimes it’s tense, sometimes it’s routine and sometimes it’s crazy.

But kids and even adults these days just want nothing but action lol. Nothing wrong with that but as a more traditional baseball fan I fear that The Show is going to start being more arcade like.

I help coach little league now for one of my son's baseball team and one of my biggest struggles is keeping kids engaged, out of the dirt, etc. The game can be slow sometimes depending on the level it's being played at and tbh I don't blame some kids for finding the pace of the game boring until they reach a certain age where there aren't positions that are treated like relegation for kids who can't field very good. That's why I want to rotate as many kids around as I can and don't take winning as serious as teaching fundamentals and keeping kids engaged. Yeah winning is important, but I'll let a kid miss a ground ball if it means not boring them to tears and making them hate the game.

I love Franchise modes, but MTO is appealing to me for this reason: I don't like simulating games and I can't play 162 games because I wouldn't get many seasons completed (maybe not even 1). I've seen a lot of different strategies for simulating like play 1 sim 2, play until you lose and sim until you win, etc.. and none of them work for me because I hate simulating any game in a sports game.

If I could play a season and edit the # of games that would really be ideal and that's a big part of why I've played so much Super Mega Baseball 3 this past year.

The way some on this forum seem to try and diminish the players of the other modes is a little tiring at times. The holier than thou, "we are the real baseball fans" gets annoying.

It would be like the Out of The Park Baseball gamers dismissing the players of The Show's franchise mode because they apparently prefer the pretty graphics over the franchise depth of OOTP.

I'm 56 years old. I was in the stands the day Lou Brock broke the single season stolen base record. I still have (somewhere) playoff ticket stubs from the '82 playoffs. And I have only played DD and RTTS in '21 so far.

Come down off your pedestals and realize that the mode a person chooses to play in this game does not define them as children, or "not real baseball fans".

Like 80-90% of MTO consists of simulated innings/games lol.

that does go too far. at the same time, I think the vast majority who speak out about franchise not getting as much yearly attention as DD or other modes that aren't franchise are either misunderstood or misguided. I will spend a lot of time in franchise but some of that time is w/QC's on, sometimes I'll only play the first game of a series, sometimes I'll play every pitch of all 162 games. and sometimes I'll dabble into rtts or m2o and even a little (very little lol) Diamond Dynasty. I can't defend those who are misguided and attack players of other modes that aren't franchise but I can definitely say that those misguided are few and far between and the majority are misunderstood in their, how shall we say, lack of enthusiasm, lol, for DD, M2O, RTTS, QC, or simming instead of playing every inning

That’s awesome you were at the Brock game, really the highlight of a bad 70’s. I had the same thing as a kid with 88-99 where Mac was about the only thing to cheer for, except 96, 96 and it’s Eckersley/Gaetti goodness was an oasis in a decade of mostly crap.
