2K baseball was one of those things where you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone. I had a 360 all throughout that gen and was jealous of those guys who had PS3s and were able to play The Show. I had a PSP and played the show on it but it wasn't the same. It wasn't until I got a PS4 and made the switch to next gen that I realized that the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Yes the show is a great game but there were things that 2K did better and things that I liked. I loved the analog pitching in 2K. I loved the commentary in 2K Gary Thorne, Steve Phillips, and John Kruk everything flowed naturally and they were great at bringing up past stats and storytelling. The Show has made me hate Matty V. I also prefered 2Ks presentation package their theme music sounded much better for me.

There were fake Ads and fake companies placed around the Stadiums instead of the generic "The show" ads we have. Also stat tracking 2K did an amazing job with tracking its stats compared to the show. They also had a fake Mlb.com page where you could check the headlines of what was going on around the league.

There are some other things that 2K did that I'm probably forgetting.

I just put in MLB 2K11 the other day just because of this thread. I forgot how good the commentary is. Their franchise mode is still light years better then the shows, which is sad. I also love how much of the advance stats that they had in their game. The show is slowly adding them, but they still have a ways to go. ISO is still missing in the game, unless I just can't find it.

I remember playing MLB2k13 when it was new and it was pretty terrible.

No one I know liked playing it.

Same here, the game was complete unplayable trash. I stuck to 11 for my fix because I clearly remember the game regressing gameplay wise since 12.

yeah, there's a reason 2k didn't see it viable to make enough money to keep around, despite having a leg up on the Show on at least 2 fronts in that it had a lock on the market in terms of other consoles not named Sony, and it had a year head start on the Show. but as a baseball video game it did in fact do a few things right... out of a thousand that it needed to do. I'd still like to see a return of the days of 2000-05 where there were multiple baseball video games to enjoy. just don't see that happening because of $

12 was technically the last release. 13 was 12 with updated rosters. "Unplayable trash" is the same rhetoric I've seen The Show 21 get, which is all hyperbole.

It's funny that some people can't seem to see or admit that it did indeed do some things better than The Show, and that it was't just "unplayable trash".

The most nostalgic about this thread is how it brings me back to remembering how close minded some folks on this forum can be in regards to other baseball games.

2K did some nice things with its game, such as the presentation elements.

The gameplay side of things was a complete mess IMO. Did they do a few technical things better than The Show? Sure, they did.

I actually enjoyed 2K12s franchise mode better than The Show. They did some really cool things with player progression that had me hooked.

That being said, it was nowhere near the level of The Show in terms of on the field gameplay. People can have their own opinions and that’s fine, but seeing people get attacked in this thread because they don’t agree with the OP is ridiculous.

All I was saying is that it's funny that some people can't see at least a couple things when the OP made a huge list of things that could be incorporated into The Show to make it a better game. That's the whole point of this thread from what I can gather...to make The Show a better game.

So many are quick to defend than to read through the specifics that would make The Show a better game, and those are people like yourself. I've never implied that 2K was better as a whole. Things like the fielding meter, pither confidence .etc were better in 2K. However, god forbid I don't say The Show is all perfect.
