I stuck it out with All Star Baseball. Brutally tough game to hit in, lacked hit locations and such but was the most beautiful graphically out of all the games. The stadiums, fictitious stadiums and ball tracking were top notch. High Heat had the realism but was fugly. MVP had the best gameplay.

Remember the pre game intros in MLB 2K7 for XBOX 360? Rendered scenes of people filling the stadiums from the outside in - very cool stuff.

Honestly, I was never a 2k Baseball fan, I thought and still think their games are pretty bad. MLB the Show is the best baseball franchise to come out of the gaming industry and they haven't rested on their laurels, something I have always appreciated from SDS.

You're entitled to your own opinion, but I think plenty around OS would disagree with the bold part this year especially. They nearly neglected franchise mode completely after years of it receiving hardly any updates. They removed some of the biggest features in the game and have never said why or if they are actively working to bring them back as quickly as possible. They've handled the server issues nearly as poorly as one can. Absolutely zero communication with the player base which is a big no-no.

With regards to the other parts of your post, the All-Star Baseball series may be the best ever in my opinion. I remember being in baseball heaven when I had 2k, MVP, High Heat, ASB, and The Show all at once, but ASB was the game I couldn't put down.

I wish we still had that kind of market. Who knows how toxic each fan base would be towards each other in this day and age, but man was it awesome to have that many options and that much variety. There was a game for everyone back then. Now not so much. The Show still plays a great game on the field and DD is actually fun for the most part, but there are plenty of shortcomings with the series still, many dealing with franchise mode.

I think The Show always played better on the field - even back in 08, but some things in MLB 2K7 on the 360 were very well done. It's just the ball physics wasn't one of 'em.

They would've eventually developed one hell of a baseball game if the same crew kept workin on it.. kind of a shame.

MVP would've been interesting to see progress too.

You guys are right that 2k13 was almost the same game as 2k12 but there was one huge change that makes it way better in my mind. In 2k12 base runners turned on a dime. Their momentum meant nothing and it looked horrible. They corrected it in 2k13 and it looked gorgeous.

Did they? News to me as I never noticed. I was a 2K forum moderator at the time and was told that 2K13 was only a roster update, but it is possible that some tinkering was done.

Do you not remember the glitch in MLB 2k where the CPU baseman would pick up the ball and freeze while the base runner headed to 3rd base, rounded 3rd, and headed home for inside the park HR after inside the park HR? lol. This was never fixed. The game was good other than this stab to the heart that caused me to buy a PS4 console and my first The Show game without looking back.

I've played hundreds of games and honestly have never had that glitch happen to me.

                        - Batting View: This is my personal feeling, but I think 2K's batter view was perfect, and no batting view on The Show comes close. I was able to reproduce it with custom, but you can't use custom views online (which 2K did allow).

                        lol.....no.

What makes my opinion laughable? What's wrong with this view? I prefer it for two reasons:

1.) The strike zone squared with the pitcher making it very effective to determine pitch break, as well gives you better judgment high and low. The Show is offset and can complicate location readings below the zone.

2.) The camera position doesn't have the strike zone looking like it's cutting the neck off the pitcher. It just bothers me. Again, I like that the pitcher is not obstructed in 2K because the angle is squared up.

                          My opinion though.

I always loved that cam as well. The Show basically copied it the following year after 2K in The Show 12 or 13, can't remember which.

I also love how the strike zone is centered. Makes reading breaking balls much easier.

I essentially replicate that cam in The Show by starting with The Show 15 or 16 cam and then zoom and lower it a bit. It's pretty doggone close.

Yeah, it isn't hard to get the custom cam set to it. You just can't use custom setting online. I compromised by using strike zone 3 cam.

Something positive I do remember from 2k was the ability to set playing time percentages in the depth chart?

Like you could have players split time 50/50 without it being a handedness platoon.

I think that was something in MLB 2k right?
